SWPH BerHari Raya... Not Quite.

Saturday, 24th September 2011.

This is the last weekend of Syawal and I made the most of it. the SWPH group was supposed to meet at Fara's then visit Sue's, Nisa's and my house. As it turned out Fara couldn't make it because of family medical matter. Instead of calling the whole thing off, I suggested we just chilled at Sue's.

Tufeil and I woke up at 9.30am, got dressed and went for lunch at Long John Silver before taking the bus to tampines. Planned to take the cab from there to Bedok Reservoir but none was in sight. Luckily, there was another bus. Tufeil was already asleep. I had to walk from the bus stop to her block carrying a probably 11kg kid. Worse was I walked in the wrong direction!

This was Sue's own place. New house. New baby. Swell! I totally left Tufeil to his own devices playing with 3 other kids. Good thing Sameer doesn't mind playing with the little kids. Good boy he is =D

A short clip of SiddiQ and Tufeil "scratching" disks like deejays.

Siddiq's room!
We spent almost 3hours just talking and chillaxing! We should totally do this again, ladies!

Nisa, Sameer, Me & T by the common corridor

Afterwards, Me & T went to Tampines Interchange. It was frustrating that I had to carry him all the way everywhere! He didn't wanna walk! But I really needed to go to Starhub shop. I enquired about Blackberry Torch.. they have limited stocks and not buying more... I thought could recontract 6 months earlier but its only 3 months earlier =( I shall be patient for another 3 months then...

We took 168 home. It was just about dusk/maghrib time as we were walking home... Tufeil was asleep. I hoped to God he won't wake up so he won't hafta look at the Living Room when we come in. Alhamdulillah, he only woke up when i attempted to put him on the bed in the room. That's where we spent the entire night... with a couple of trips to the kitchen but totally avoided the Monster area.

I just got news that a neighbour told my other neighbour that she felt uneasy too when she came home late the last few nights. Aiyoooo

"Ada Monster!"

Sunday 18th sept 2011

We woke up from our nap at 4pm and Tufeil wanted the choc i promised him if he took the nap and wanted to watch TV in the living room.

He stopped short at the end of the dining area where the fan is, looked at the sitting area and said

"ada monster!" (there's a monster!)

I dismissed him and proceeded to turn on the lights and fan to prove to him its ok. But instead he started to cry!

Now.. As a mother u tend to know when ur child is genuinely hurt or he's just milking it. And at tt point, i knew his fear was real. I quickly grabbed him, read a string of prayers and went into my parents' room. They jumped awake hearing him cry. And i thought to myself, "thank god im not alone!"

We talked and played on the bed for awhile... Then when my dad was ready i asked him to bring Tufeil out for an "its alright tour".

Later that evening, we went out for dinner and some errands. We reached home quite late almost 11pm. The moment we stepped in, he pointed to the living room again and said "ada monster". I didnt dare to analyze his cry, i blocked out my own fear, went straight to our room while calming him down.

Last night, ny parents picked me up from work at 9.30pm, then went grocery shopping. Reached home 11pm again. He started whining.. His face told me he was afraid but i believe its more bcos he still remembered the image he saw the other day rather than it was really there.

Seriously, i need to do something. The usual Ayat Kursi and 3 Quls dont seem to keep them at bay. The nightmares keep coming...

Sameer the Bhai "Kentot"

Sat, 23rd July 2011.

So boring today my parents and 2nd sister's family went to Malacca for 1N. Luckily, Tufeil woke up only at 11am so that's like half a day gone. And Ash was not working that day so we went out for lunch at Breeks.

Afterwards, I managed to squeeze in a visit to Nisa and Sameer the Bhai just for fun. Also because there's a direct bus to her house, it's easy. The not so easy part was, Tufeil fell asleep just 5min before destination so I had to carry him... add to that, I alighted one bus stop earlier so I hafta walk further. (Arms still aching.)

Tufeil was amused by Sameer's Cars Bedsheet. Thank you Nisa for the lovely green banana custard which T loved.

Tufeil giggling at Sameer Bhai making fart sound. Actly he giggled loudest after I hit the Stop button. Always happens to me.

We left at 5pm but T still wanted to play and we stopped by at the playground nearby. T and I waited about 5 whole min at the bus stop and I was amazed that I could keep him still, most of the time.

Unfortunately, it was a single decker bus this time around. But the funny thing was, there were two kids seated behind us and T totally made friends with them. He taught them the phrase "Shiver me timbers" from that new Pirate cartoon on Disney Junior. and they in turn taught him "Yio Chu kang". It was so funny looking at them entertaining each other.

It was promptly maghrib when we reached the door to the house. As we went in, Tufeil was 5 steps behind me. The moment I stepped in my room, he screamed and cried! My heart beat quickly and I rushed out to see him and I don't know why but I also screamed! I snapped out of it and hugged Tufeil and looked around... Oh! There's a lizard on the wall! If you know me, you'd know that i'm terrified of lizards too! But I hafta be the adult at the moment and "rescue" Tufeil by running quickly into our room. We waited until the lizard ran away than we were able to get showered and dinner.

The whole night and until now, I pondered on his scream. It doesn't sound like he saw a lizard. Normally, he wldn't scream like that. He sounded really scared. I imagine he saw something else but that it ran away when I screamed at it? *shrug*

Ini gara2 Hairiah lah cerita kat Whatsapp pasal benda ghaib. Sampai skrg kita asyik teringat2 ajer... :P

One week on...

...And I still feel spooked.

The first night after the encounter was terrible! I couldn't get any sleep cause I was scared of a recurrence.

I had Dad do the Azan and pray in my room. and he played the Qur'an CD in the living room on continuous playback.

Even then, in my head, I couldn't help replaying Tufeil screaming and saying "Shark (tawa)" over and over again. So much so that I had to sleep with the yellow (flourescent?) light on and the doors open. I told mum not to close her doors either. I even went the additional step of smsing Ash not to close our doors when she come home.

To make it worse still, I had my first day of period too. Great this is just great!

Incidentally, or as a result of the "visit", my computer broke down. There was a Fan Error and it refused to boot up. So I had nothing to accompany me before I sleep save for a book. But I made sure that I closed my book and eyes BEFORE midnight.

Still... I was on guard the whole night... Kept repeating (in my heart) all the Surahs I know, and kept asking Allah Al-Hafiz to protect us from Evil.

I was dreading the time when T wakes up for milk. I really really really hoped he won't see anything again. Thank god he didn't. He woke up at probably 2 and 4am. By which time, I gave up the idea of sleep. More because my bladder was gonna BURST but I didn't dare to go to the loo and leave T alone in the room.

The time just dragged on and on and on... Felt like I had read a ton of pages from my book but only 15min had past. close to 2hours later at 6am did I brave myself to venture outside as I was sure Dad was already up.

Running on just 3hours of intermittent sleep, I went to work.

We slept with the doors open again for the next 3 days. Monday, I started to close it to avoid any kinds of indecent exposure. But I still had the flourescent light (as oppose to the barely visible rainbow lights) on.

It was only last night (Thurs) that I really couldnt take the bright light anymore and turned on the C (rainbow) mode. As it happened, Tufeil was having a giggling fit (He seems to find it funny when I drag him back to me before he reaches the stand fan) and was not anywhere near DreamLand yet.

And then, T's face suddenly changed. I did hear something behind me too. Oh God Oh God I don't wanna turn around but I forced myself too and SHRIEKED my heart out! I saw a BIG CURLY SHADOW that was my own mom!!! Lord she really gave me a heart attack!!!

I don't know how much longer I'm gonna continue feeling fearful. It sucks. I hate sleeping in bright lights but I can't without it.

Spooky Encounter

It was almost 1am when i finished watching Hell's Kitchen and wanted to turn in. Tufeil came awake and happily asking if he can take his toy van. I said its asleep now, we giggled and went back to sleep.

2.15am, i felt he was still nursing but suddenly he startled, sat up and shrieked! I jumped awake and heard his fear in his screams. To make matters worse, he was pointing at something behind me and crying now. Of course i didnt look.

It took me two auzubillah before i could gather my wits and read the ayat kursi. The first one didnt work. So i read again and again and louder and more determined until T calmed down. He calmed down enough to say "shark (ke)tawa" shark is laughing. I tried not to imagine what it looks like and failed. My hair stood. But im not sure if its bcos i imagined it or bcos it really was there.

T continued crying and saying "nak keluar sini" but tt is his common dialogue so i knew things were somewhat ok now.

I ran to my mum's room. When i told her this story she felt her hair stood too and again when we past by my room to go to the kitchen. Each time i was still reading the ayat kursi aloud.

Well it could also be his fever was too high 39deg celcius he was hallucinating. We gave him meds and sponged him to sleep. Mum slept w usfor the remainder of the night. After that one hour's sleep, i only caught another 2 intermittent ones before my own dry throat woke me up coughing.

I wondered how would i have handled this if i werent still living w my parents?? Worse if i had weaned T off BM??

One thing's for sure, I wldnt wanna experience it albeit vicariously again. Thanks.

Mummy "It hurts" Walk of Shame.

Two more incidents that make me feel like a fool of a mother.

FIRST INCIDENT

We were eating at KFC somewhere in JB and they had a mini playground with one of them single seesaws like the above picture. T wanted to climb it, Ayah guided him there but then decided against it when he saw it was too big for them. After awhile, I decided to let him go at it. Carried him to a sit and rocked the bugger and BAM! Tufeil's forehead hit the metal bar.

He threw his back and shook in extreme agony. It pained me to see him writhing like that. I managed to calm him enough to get him downstairs where my mum was. RED and BLUE BLACK circle was beginning to bulge.

I suddenly recalled Mak Ngah saying "Use ice". And I zipped to the counter and asked for ice and some tissues. I let my mum do the honour of pressing it against his bruise, though, while I tried soothing him. He kicked and wailed in pain.

In a few hours, Alhamdulillah, the swell reduced dramatically. This is his 3rd knock on the forehead. The last two times it took days to go away. And I couldn't help but imagine that if this was an episode of Desperate Housewives, they would have brought the baby to the hospital to check for concussion or something. But unfortunately, we are ordinary Singaporeans who don't bother with such things.

SECOND INCIDENT

This happened just two nights ago. A drop of MY shampoo fell on to his arms and right at that moment, Tufeil also rubbed his eyes using that arm. He began to cry and say "DAHHHH" meaning DONE that signals his wish to come out of the shower.

In my panic, I ran water from the shower head to his face to wash away the chemicals causing him to freak out even more. But he was also quick to brush me off. And i tried a couple more times, i feel, without success. He wouldn't let me wash it off! Now that I've thought about it, I should have used my hands to cup some water instead of sprays from the shower as he's frightened of that.

Managed to distract him with the sponge a few times but everytime the next second he would cry again. I looked at his eyes, no more suds but still a bit red. When he insisted to go out, i resigned myself to finish bathing quickly and go.

He calmed down much when we got to our room to dress up - playing a dvd on the computer helped lots to appease him. He also asked for his milk and i relented seeing what the poor dear just went thru. In 15mins, he drifted to sleep and it was only 7.30pm!

Tufeil still hadn't had dinner and I was afraid he would wake up crying in hunger in the middle of the night. Thankfully he didn't but still woke up every 2 hours for milk as is usual.

The worst part of this is I'm sure he's now developed a phobia of showering and that hit me BIG time after all the trouble I went to instill fun at bath time.

Maybe I should get this for him. Hehe

Nightmares Go Away!

Ash ever said that whenever she sleeps in my room she will get nightmare.

Well... can't blame her... i get nightmares often too... so much so that i've quite used to it already that i dont remember it.

Mostly it's like being chased, teeth dropping out, swollen tongues, Tsunamis.... but lately its been ghoulish too! It's like getting trapped in a Harry Potter movie with strange creatures trying to kill my character. at some point i seemed detached from it and watching from behind but i feel the fear all the same.

Maybe its the Vampire books i've been reading, its a chick lit really but with vampire theme, or maybe because i was facing left when i slept. i definitely read all the prayers and verses before i sleep.

All these non-stop running in dream and waking up every 1-2hr to feed Tufeil is making me super tired!

Baby, when are you gonna start sleeping through the night again?

I've Given Birth.....

....in my dreams!

I was brought to my school's old compound (another nightmare prone site in my mind). I can already see somebody holding my baby, but that is his spirit.

People around me were telling me to feel what's the baby trying to tell me... He seemed to be telling me that he's ready to go out but that he wants to be borned on the lawn of our reverred teacher who lives across the road. So i painstakingly walked over the few metres and delivered. Because I was in that compound, the reverred teacher "forgave" my labour pains and i didnt feel no Ring of Fire that i was waiting for.

Scary... seems like im on the verge of being shirik. *shudder* Worse is this guy came back into my life saying he was sorry that he was ready to accept me and baby. Huh?? How did he suddenly come into my unconscious mind?

Now in the office, pondering on the dream, i feel weird. And scared.

1. It just struck me that i'll be experiencing extreme labour pains in under 2months if im lucky. Having actually "delivered" the baby in that dream, i cant imagine the fear on the REAL DAY. Often pple described it as sooo painful you thought you were gonna die.

2. I've known this before already but it just slapped me on the face again as a result from this dream that after i gave birth, i hafta take care of this little person and i have no clue how to!! And im worried how i will take in this Overwhelming feeling of love.

I realise its not just about pretty clothes and cute faces. There will be a lot of pain and emotions going on. Nice though Butterflyrubric's latest entry about the anecdotes of her son's first week, it made me feel even weirder. Cos Im not used to loving nor taking care of anybody else more than myself. Haha. And i'm especially worried i'd be all alone, nobody cares enough to stay with me the whole entire time.

The Meaning of Nightmare

Zubair's watch beeped 5am.

I had been tossing and turning for the past hr having had no sleep the whole night save from 12 - 2am. Finally, i got into a nice sitting position to sleep.

The watch beeped again. It's 6am now. and my neck strained from the crooked angle and i decided to let myself sink into deep sleep for another hour. BIG MISTAKE.

I got into a dream where i was flying on a small open platform (imagine Mary Poppins) over oceans with small islands dotted below. Must have been the result from surfing about a resort vacation all of yesterday morning. However, i felt fear. Fear of falling and drowning. Fear of being alone because not one being was in sight.

The platform descended. Ah! People, at last! A lot of them. Seemed like a tribal event was hot in session. All Males. When i landed... they crowded around me. I feared indecent acts and ran for it.

There you are guys! My best friends. I saw clearly Fit, Nul, Mah, Hid and Zi and half of Nan. You guys were chiding me for being late but were all talking animatedly all at once giving me no chance to tell you of the dangerous journey i've just had.

But i was also late for work bcos im soooo tired from lack of sleep. I was also irritated with Z about something and not talking to him and so left to get ready before i get fired. That's when i saw my friends hurrying off into the space shuttle (which was actually my old house's toilet - i told you there's a spooky part of the house hanging around in my head) before i could join them. Only 5 pax could fit into the "taxi", they said.

That's when I couldn't take it anymore! I dont belong anywhere! Nobody understands me! Then a vacuum tried to suck me into that void space. Into a dream world of everlasting nightmares and unconscious awareness.

I screamed for somebody. I felt a hand. I knew it was his. I was still angry with him but i took it anyways. Anything to escape the Bermuda Triangle of nothingness. I was pulling myself up into reality when i realised i had awoken to a dream still. and the menace and still trying to take me down!

NOW i screamed for real. I screamed like i was hurt. The kind of scream i voiced when i got a muscle cramp. I heard mummy knocking on the door and Z trying to calm me down. When i realised im back to reality, I broke down and cried. Its as though Fate has not tortured me enough in the day but also had to mess in my dreams.

I felt soooo tired i wanted to sleep forever. I didnt even care if i got back into the nightmare, at least its not exactly real. But i didnt wanna call in sick either. Getting up and about no matter how tired I am felt more compelling than being stuck at home with a sack of depression weighing me down.

In the office, i researched some dreams interpretation at dreammoods.com, and realised that im feeling super vulnerable, that i should be standing up for myself. At the same time, i have fear. Fear of change.
.
.
.
.
The one and only funny side to this nightmare is when ayah asked if i had a nightmare because he was afraid i was going into early labour!!

WE HAD AN ACCIDENT!!!

This morning at about 8.12am, on the way to work, a taxi bumped us from behind!

We were travelling along the CTE (AYE). It happened somewhere near AMK Ave 3.

I felt the impact was SOooo great I thanked God i was sitting in front and wearing the seat bealt. I can't fathom what it would have been like if a passenger sitting behind didn't wear the seat belt. It was really very scary.

At first, i thought they was a major earthquake or something but didnt see anything happening in front of me. It took me a few nanoseconds after i saw my dad checking the rearview mirror to understand what had happened! But the instant (30 sec) after the fear subsided, I whipped out my hp camera and took pictures! Evidence, babe.

The Toyota Crown Taxi was unscathed! prolly a teeny wee bit hint of a crooked hood and one or two micromini dents.

I even took the driver's facial picture So he can't weasel out of this one. HAH!

The driver was SUPER UNFRIENDLY as well as RUde!

At first Ayah asked him, "What happened? Sleepy ah?" He said, "No Lah where got sleepy. Lucky i braked already if not worse!"

He was even reluctant to give his Name and IC and told us to make a report straight away. Er... Excuse me. How to make report if we dont even know your freaking name? That's what prompted me to snap a picture of his face. Like maybe he's a part time driver and the real owner of the taxi will get the blame?

Poor passenger. I hope she (a malay tudung clad lady) gets a discount or something.

Claustrophobia

Yesterday i had a glimpse of how claustrophobic feels in enclosed spaces.

I was in the MRT on the way to work. A few stations after, i got a seat. To my left was a lady my right was a guy. While he was LARGE, i felt he was like invading my space. Some more, in front of me was a standing lady w her newspaper spread out, so was the person next to her.

I couldn't breathe. I wanted to scream!!! I couldn't sit still. Kept on Squirming.

Prolly due to lack of sleep also that i felt restless. I cldn't concentrate on my book, nor could i drift to sleep.

I wish this train ride to be over soon!

Thank god it did before i lost my mind.

Funny / Scary / Silly Nightmare

Back in the old Tampines house Kitchen, I saw mummy cutting some meat with Kak Lily beside her.

She said, "Look, Ca, Mas Selamat is hiding in this lamb's tummy! No Wonder nobody could traced him, this animal's eaten him up already!"

I peered a look and saw a whole head. Then it kinda slipped to the floor and tried to escape!!! and Suddenly it was flying. I dont know why i was his target and he had POWERS... and i ran and hid and ran with Z.

I came awake screaming but Z lulled me to sleep again. God, the things i dream about...!

The Ghost of My Old House Still Haunting Me

I woke up in the middle of the night at the prick i felt when Z twisted my injured hand.

"Hey!" I yelped.

When he asked me why i was grasping his arms so tightly, I cried.

I realised that I was having a nightmare. A heartbreaking nightmare.

I told Z that in my dream, me and Ayah were praying and suddenly he so nonchalantly or even defiantly walked in front of us. Then... ok this part a bit funny... my dad broke off his prayers to swear at Z!! LOL But of cos, in the dream, i was feeling furious. Even more so when Z replied with a swear too! That was when i walked up to him, grabbed his two arms and kicked his *toot*.

Then Z asked me, where was it that the scene happened?

"In my old Tampines House kitchen" I answered thoughtfully.

I have always had issues with the image of my old house. I dont like it. I dont like the memory it brings me. Also, i feel that i didn't have a proper closure to seal the memory tightly. You see... It was my working Saturday when we moved. I went to work as usual in the morning, but returned to a new home. I didn't have the chance to say a proper goodbye to the house. Worse, i havent visited the new occupiers of the house, which i believe will make me come to terms with the lingering memory. And now its too late and it keeps haunting me.

After that short conversation w Z in explaining my dream, i slowly drifted back to my nightmare.

This time i was asked to sing for the D&D (which is this fri!!) ... and a DUET with.. at first i tot was Marc Anthony (LOL!!). But we couldn't find the Karaoke version of the particular song. Then we went hunting for it and got into an accident or something and i had to take over as driver lah bla bla bla... And by now my singing partner looks like Xiaxue's boyfriend, Mike! Complete with blood on the forehead following a Valentine's Day Tragedy. LOL

Ok this is turning out funnier written out that when i was living it!

Syifaa' "Possessed"

Kak Ly, Abg Fai and Mummy were from Geylang and picked us up.

We all reached home around 6:50pm yesterday.

I set about having a quick dinner before going to class. Ayah was carrying Syifaa'. Then Kak Ly wanted to let Ayah take his dinner so she took the baby from him. But Syifaa' refused as hell!

At first we thought she's still blur from her nap in the car or that she cldn't recognise her Ummi who has just had an image-changing haircut.

She kept on crying and crying, we thought, "Is she just cranky because of the fever?" She just came back from a $70 doctor's visit, you see.

That is.. Until Ayah realised that...

Right after we came home, while ayah was carrying Syifaa', Ayah did what he always do to entertain her ie Take her to the window for people/nature watching. Note that it was 6:50pm and dusk was approaching in approx 25min.

It is said that during this time the jinns / spirits come out to play before the calling of the athan at dusk which scares them away.

Syifaa', Kak Lily claimed, looked very fierce when she refused her own mother. It was like she had a split personality, crying at one time, fierce at another, then a bit of laughing when we tried to play with her.

Ayah then took an advice from his friend to read the athan (call for prayer) on her right ear and iqamah on her left ear and read Ayatul Kursi and all other verse from the Qur'an relentless until she fell asleep.

She woke up at about 10:30pm and started to cry non stop again. We did the above step again but this time she really struggled very hard for some time. Ayah thinks this is the part where the spirit was truly on the way out of her system.

My poor darling Syifaa'. Syafakillah and May Allah always protect you and all of us too.

Silly Nightmares

Just a very short note before i go off for the day...

Last night i had a silly nightmare where i finally let myself be pricked on the ears to look pretty. Translation: Ear piercing.

While waiting for it to heal, Syifaa' came and pull the stud off!!!

Then we finally shifted office. And we were all placed on school desks!!! Mine was pretty and has a small wall. But still not enough to cover my computer screen!

Shows u what im actually scared of! LOL

But on a serious note, I have been hearing things in the middle of the night. The other time it was something heavy stumbling to a fall just near the door. I was actually jolted to a wake bcos it was so loud! I didnt even glance to that side of the room. Just buried myself under the blanket and went back to sleep.

This morning, clicks on the windows. But i assume the later were just sounds resulting from the rain.

God protect me.

Scary Night...

It was 12:45am this morning when we finally settled down to sleep.

As we were snuggling... we heard some strange sounds..

You know, living in HDB flats, we always encounter sounds of falling marbles and furnitures being dragged? We always assumed that it's the noisy neighbour upstairs right? But how come the top floor occupants still hear the same kinda noises?

My father also has another theory that in between our ceiling and their floor there's a gap. Rats live in between that gap and cause all those "noises". God knows.

Well this one last night, sounded unlike those 2.... It was like drops of water... Sometimes one big one at a time, sometimes a few small drops. If it was the neighbour upstairs, the sound cldn't've travelled thru the thick layer in between. It cldn't've been from the opened window, cos that kind of water drops would have a different sound effect when splashed against the windows.

Zubair got restless... i was chanting the Ayatul Kursi in my heart amidst my grogginess begging for the sound to go away. Meanwhile, it kept coming thru in 5 - 10 sec intervals. Finally, Zubair nudged me and asked, "What's that VOICE?" Out of all words he HAD to use "VOICE"!? he could have used "sound" or "noise". It just got scarier then.

But i just motioned him to hush. We, Malays, call it "Celupar" or "fast-mouth" if you "tegur2" or acknowledge those strange happenings. Eg: when we walk along a "haunted" place or wooded areas, then a smell moved past you. Be it nice or foul smell, you NEVER EVER say, "HEy, what's that smell?" It's simply taboo!

Then we just huddled closer in the single blanket... and drifted to sleep.

Alhamdulillah nothing happened. When i asked Zubair just now, he said he didnt know what that was nor did he see anything or whatever.

Well.. guess its back to closed windows thru the night for me when Zubair's away :(
