Holiday in the making...

It is truly unfortunately that I have to arrive to the decision of scrapping the 12D trip to Turkey at year end. The trip for one adult costs more than my monthly salary! Now that Tufeil is more than 2 years of age, his plane ticket alone is $1,800 excluding the land tour fee.

That means I'll be missing these...

Topkapi Palace

Blue Mosque

Grand Bazaar

Sighhh... well better that than plunging deeper into debts.

Instead, now I'm planning to go for Qodariyah's 5D to Shanghai. I think it's winter there too in december, right? Even if no snow, temp lower than say 10 deg c would be good. hahah And it costs only $858 per person! (Budget airline???)

Afterwards we can still go for a beach resort...

I wanna stay in a villa with private pool

Get in house massage...

and snorkel!!!

Tufeil would be delighted to see the fishes up close and personal! Wait, would he be able to snorkel?

I just can't decide which beach. PLUS most of the nearby islands would be affected by the monsoon season or something in December, isn't it? So WHERE would be a good place???

I need to lose weight! HAHA

Ok i know im very weight obsessed. i even want my baby to NOT gain too much weight. I can't believe some pple actually think Tufeil is skinny! I'm like.. HUH! his cheeks are 1kg each ok!

On the other hand, i also like to eat!

But i think my appetite has returned to normal. I think maybe at 8th month of breastfeeding. Also at this point i think that i start to regain the extra weight i've lost after giving birth. Chet! I sooo cannot fit into my jeans anymore. EYEWWW Ugly sight!

I totally loathe the buncit-ness of my tummy. But i'd like to think that my stretch marks are getting lighter and lighter.

While i doubt i have time during lunch time to squeeze in GYM AND PUMP, i think i can do slimming treatments though. Now i just need to finish paying off my computer and then we can buy that package at De Beaute, International Plaza.

In the meantime, i sooooooooooooooooo need a massage!!!!!!!!!!!! My body feels soooooooo tired and aching. Ok that's partly cause i'm down with a cold.

I've got a fantasy:

When Tufeil turns 1 year old, i wanna go for a week long beach vacation ON MY OWN. this is to help ease Tufeil thru the transition from Breast Milk to Formula milk and to let him learn to sleep without nursing. And i will have ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the time in the world to sleeeeeeeeeeeep, to go for spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasss, to snorkle, swim.... and devote some time to the Almighty too (let's not forget that).

My heart aches to realise this dream. But... DREAM ON, they'd say!

I wanna take a day's leave from work but go out as usual in the morning.

Check in to an hourly hotel and....

SLEEP!!!

SLEEP!!!

and sleep some more...

Maybe check out at 2pm... have lunch... and watch 2 movies.

I'm so needing a break.

Tufeil, please start sleeping thru the night soon or i'll just... die.

Leaves... Holiday.....

Tues 7th July

So its a good thing i took leave that day. Initially, it was because mummy has class every tuesday and that particular Tues, Ayah can't send mummy cos he's on course. I didnt want her first day of bringing Tufeil to class be via public transport. Terperanjat berok nanti kepenatan! (Rude shock to handle the tiredness.)

As it turned out, my grandfather called her over to bring him to the hospital. He was in pain. Much later we gotta know its water retention due to poor kidney function.

I'll be on leave again this monday for Tufeil's follow up check up with the physiotherapist, which i'm looking forward to. Im hoping they'd say, "Oh! His club foot and curled toes are all nice and normal now. Good job!" so i can stop taping this toes which i admit i'm getting lazier to.

Anyways, i just gotta know that i only have 8 days of maternity leave left when i came back to work. I was under the impression that i had 10 days left. with 2 being taken this month, i'm left with 6days maternity, 6days child care and 13days annual leave. I hope this will cover me for the period when my parents go for Hajj, insya'Allah, ie 22nd Nov for a month!

I'm fantasizing to stretch that holiday till 2010. But honestly, I don't see it happening. With all the year end reports to be done, and prolly more follow up check ups to go before then, as well as trying to bring forward some annual leaves to next yr, i think i should just come back after Xmas.

However, the BIGGER Question is.... WHERE SHALL I GO TO during my month long holiday? I definitely want to take the aeroplane!! and NOT a budget one. I want some place that's not exactly a retreat place, more family and baby friendly destination but NO Shopping. MALAS! (Lazy) besides, it will only make my heart ache looking at the fabulous things i CAN"T afford to buy. Bah!

At first, i told my sis, absolutely NOT Australia since i've been there before albeit just once. And i thought it's.... boring? I dont wanna visit pple so much (Which we will end up doing). I want more of visiting museums, libraries then just chill at the park or beach. But it'll be SUMMER in Dec. Yikes!

Then she suggested New Zealand, said its cooler there even in Summer. Ahhhhh that's a country i'd LOVE to go! All meadows and...... cows / farm? On the other hand, it'll be a tad boring if we dont stay near town. Then it'll be just like a retreat, which i DONT want. Besides, its more for adventurous pple with the rafting, bungee jumping and what nots.

So on hindsight, maybe Australia's better. Sydney perhaps. Summer pun summer lah. At least its still cooler than Asian Countries?

But then again, i will only go if Ash is coming with us. Following my sis and BIL would be just too weird :S

Any other suggestions?

If I Were a Genius...

Me and Nisa were discussing about that famous genius who turned to a prostitute that time when the topic was hot.

Since we got our own idea of what to do if we were geniuses, we decided to put write them down in our blogs and post at the same time (so cannot copy answer!).

Here goes.

For Inventions and discoveries, I would:

  1. Invent a Train Of Thoughts Recorder / Log. Bcos i find that i always have lots of things i wanted to tell Zubair while in the toilet or something. When i finally meet him, i cant remember what to say already. Probably lost in his gaze. LOL.
  2. Invent a wardrobe that will categorize and match itself. and will come out all washed and pressed upon my choosing so.
  3. REMEMBER. Build a system to remember things like, "Buy bread before going home." or "You owe me $25" things like that. Tony Buzan's memory technique is more like for EXAMs.
  4. Make the WHOLE WORLD, underwater, over space, every inch of air internet accessible.. for free! (or nominal rate) Not the kind where you cant get a good connection when you're in the jungle or can't get alternative access when you're stuck with a VPN in the office!
  5. Design a two storeyed train that can fit into Singapore's current Train system.
  6. Create a new mode of transporation: GigaBit Travel... Where your whole body will be translated into Gigabytes and you could reach Pakistan in just 1hr. And with each journey, you'll even lose 100gm bcos of some stray bits lingering in the electric air. And this would deem Ambition No 5 redundant! LOL
  7. Discover another note in the musical world. HAH
  8. Break the Mystery of Atlantis.
  9. Create many educational games

Personal goals, I would:

  1. Make my billion dollar before 30yrs old, invest them in the right funds and retire with lotsa annuity to ensure comfortable lifestyle while i devote myself to God and teaching children.
  2. Oh since i'd be a billionaire, i would also like to have 15 children, since i can afford them and i can definitely afford a liposuction after each delivery, why not?
  3. And probably just for the fun of it, adopt another 10 children to make two soccer teams!
  4. Design my whole house myself

So if you wanna know what Nisa wrote, visit her website here

My Dream PC

My Current Acer Desktop's 5-yr Warranty will end in Feb 09.

And already im dreaming which other computer i wanna buy!

When we went out window shopping some time ago, i fell in love with this

HP Pavilion Slimline s3000

I super love Slim CPUs can!! Also I LOVEEEEEEEE the wireless keyboard and mouse that come with it. I HATEE wires that are now cluttering my desk! If possible i want wireless screen and speakers too!!! 1gig Ram and around 120GB HDD (Who's counting?).

It's retailing at $1,500 at Courts with 3 years warranty. or $1,200 with 1 yr warranty. I hope in a years' time the price will plummet some more.

But this one has always been MY DREAM Computer!

Sony VAIO's VGC-LA38G

It has a built in webcam and the disk drive is behind the screen!

Complete with foldable keyboard and mousepad.

But i searched for reviews for this computer and it turned out negative! Retailing at $2,799, The IT industry seems to think that it's suitable for pple who has the money to spend on aesthetics. Apparently there are a lot of other notebooks and laptops out there with the same or better system at a much lesser price say... $1,800? That's 1k cheaper!

So there!

Getting to Know Pakistan w a Personal Twist

Now down to the real story.

I had the opportunity to borrow a thin Young Adult's book about Pakistan.

Most of the facts in there, i have already heard from Zubair previously. But it kinda got legitimated by this book (written by a non-native! LOL) but additionaly, it details the background of how things came about.

The Aryans were the early settlers of this region of which most Pakistanis are descendants of. They were tall and fair. and thought they were superior to the dark-coloured natives of the Dravidians and invented the caste system putting the latter at the lowest called Untouchables and themselves at the top as Brahmins. They were also the one who developed Sanskrit, from which a lot of languages are derived from including, Urdu, Bengali and even Malay! Why the name Singapore originally Singa (malay for Lion) + "pur" (City in Sanskrit).

It's funny how when we were learning history in Seconday school, i had never associated the Aryans and the Indus Valley as modern day India and Pakistan! It's mind blowing when i discovered it recently.

If you had watched the movie Little Buddha starring Keanu Reeves, you would know that Gautama Buddha was an Indian Prince who fled to find divination and fasted for days and weeks until he was bony skinny. One thing that always confused me was whether Buddhism is an Indian or Chinese religion. Ayah ever attempted to enlighten me on this topic but i never got it.

Only after i read this book, did i know that although Buddha was indeed Indian and preached there, the great Emperor Asoka helped to spread it to China, Korea, Japan, Cambodia, Burma, Thailand and Sri Lanka where it remained to be the dominant religion in some of these countries, i believe.

Most of us would know that Pakistan was part of India once upon a time. But what Zubair didn't tell me was Pakistan and India share the same date of independence! Well almost. They were declared independent by the British officially at the stroke of midnight on 14th Aug 1947. While India celebrates on 15th, Pakistan does do on 14th. This part i have yet to ask why :)

Roughly, this is what happened. During the Mogul dynasty ruled by Muslim leaders, that Islam flourished and being embraced rather widely all across the board though some may be for reasons other than true revelation. However, there were times and places when a Muslim Sultan reigned and at others an Indian Maharaja governed.

This, in a way, caused confusions and tensions. Esp in tolerating and respecting each other's beliefs. Islam and Hinduism are very contrasting religion. For eg: Cows are sacred to Hindus and therefore they cannot kill nor eat beef. On the other hand, we celebrate our Eidul Adha by SLAUGHTERING and feasting on them. Another eg and i quote from the book, "Sometimes these riots occurred because HIndus staged noisy processions near mosques".

These brought the likes of Dr Mohammed Iqbal and Muhammad Ali Jinnah aka Quaid-i-Azam to come to the conclusion that it is just too impossible to even try uniting faithfuls of these two religions together and so they worked on dividing the peace of land into two: India and Pakistan.

Sections where the dominant residence are Muslim became part of Pakistan and vice versa. This, in turn, led to the disputed territory of Kashmir. While it is dominantly Muslim, the ruler was an Indian Maharaja. For fear that the King would get military assistance from India to oust the Muslims in order to maintain his reign, the people rioted and caused exactly what they feared to happen, happened.

Now, i've heard of all those names before but could never relate who they are and what they've done for the country. For eg: i didnt know Muhd Ali Jinnah and Quaid-e-Azam is the same person! *slap forehead* Masya Allah, this book has helped me to understand a lot.

I remember laughing when Zubair said that during his grandfather's time, there were a lot of abandoned houses with treasures inside or buried underground! He simply said bcos during that time was partition was in the making and the Hindus migrated over to India and the Muslims to Pakistan.

What he missed out though was that, there were war like scenes going around, riots everywhere. the people of those times literally fled for their lives! So that's why they had no time to sell their lands nor pack their valuables with them. Poor them. But i'm sure the Muslims in India suffered the same fate as well.

I used to think that Karachi is Pakistan's capital because that's the city i frequently heard or read about being the heart of the business centre and near the sea. Well.. i wasnt totally wrong. Karachi was indeed the city of choice to be capital right after independence. However, the govt found it to be too overcrowded with refugees, businessmen and the lot that they decided to move it temporarily to Rawalpindi and i quote, "partly so that the govt could not be said to be influenced by business interests".

in 1967, after 6 years of construction, Islamabad was born and is till now the capital of Pakistan.

Zubair ever mentioned in passing that Bangladesh used to be a part of Pakistan too. Well.. it was the first time i heard about it and i just took his word for it. But i finally got to know the details from this book.

Bangladesh used to be known as East Pakistan. They are separated by 1,600km of land that is India. They speak a slightly different language called Bengali. They only thing that kept them together was Islam. After Pakistan became independent, East Pakistan had lots to complain about. For eg: Why should the capital be in West Pakistan when East Pakistan outnumbered their counterpart in population? So on and so forth. Until at last, Pakistan recognised them as a separate nation of Bangladesh (dont know on which date).

Apart from these chronological events, i also learnt that:

  1. Pakistan has a lot of desserts. I mean deserts. haha! They have sandy, rocky earth and not much greenery.

  2. Bcos Lahore is a more inland plain, it is about 20 celsius in the day but can drop as low -1 degrees at night. I suppose that is why it will be diff to snow on the plain w the day going up to 20. But there sure are a lot of snows on the mountains!

  3. I knew Pak means pure. but i just found out that "istan" means land in Sanskrit

This has been from the book of Major World Nations. Written by John C Caldwell. Published by Chelsea House Publishers.

Before i got married, i surfed scores of websites to get more info about Pakistan. Somehow, it felt either too limited, or shallow, or too boring to read. I resorted to Lahore Metblogs to know how the modern pple live in the now. But i still felt like i dont really know Pakistan yet. Not to mention having NOT seen it yet. I was hungry for pictures!!

This book has quenched my thirst to know my husband's country of origin. (Well, actually i have always liked Pakistani / Indian guys. So im not exactly just interested in it bcos my husband happens to be a Pakistani. LOL)

It has even conjured some national maybe patriotic spirits for this country. I want to contribute something. I fantasized working at the Singapore embassy there. Setting up one management model not just to be envied of, but to be adopted as well by other organisations.

Still, not wanting to be in politics, i want to help to reduce poverty, increase employment rate, abolish bribery or favouritism and the incumbent terrorism, increase efficiency and order. Plant more trees and grasses, develop the farms, promote tourism. OMG... a long list of aspirational things i would like to do there.

Just two things are hindering me from doing just so. My monthly financial commitments payable in SGD and the Ex. Go figure.

Note to Pakistani readers: Do feel free to correct me if im wrong or to add any other info

Singapore.Recruit.Net

I was pinging my blog entries at ping.sg, when i saw the ad banner for Singapore.Recuit.net.

I caught a glimpse of the animation searching for a "blogger" job. and i quickly clicked on it. But sadly, there's not job for "blogger". hahaha But i didnt despair, i tried "Writer" and got 90+ posts.

  1. Travel Writer for streetdirectory.com
  2. Writer for a regional marketing comm agency. Basically translating products or services to potential clients.
  3. Contract writer for 3 months for a design company doing creative marketing. This is lower entry level for Writer, i believe. and with 3 months contract, i can leave if i find i can't cope with too much words! haha
  4. Research Writer for the Learning Lab with possible specializations in MAths, etc.

Nothing else is available for me as they need a degree holder. But the last post made me search for "Research" and these are the results that interest me:

  1. Research Exec. collecting data n trends in countries such as Singapore, India, Pakistan and even Bangladesh!! They need a Bachelor degree but i dont care i wanna try!! there might be travelling involve! I'd be a good advantage when i've mastered Urdu/Hindi and understood more of their culture. If not, just ask Zubair for help! haha
  2. Research Officer for a credit and BUsiness Information bureau. Basically checking credit history of pple or business. Nice!
  3. Lastly, a Admin Exec (corporate Research) for JTC. Well, at least it's prolly in the right direction to start the career in Research.. Untill i finished my freaking degree!

Prolly you're asking, why am i searching for a new job?

Not that i'm unhappy in this job, just that to break away from what i think is an income ceiling for an Admin job with my level of education, i think i hafta break away from doing just ADMIN.

Writing is something i have been doing for the past year or more. Tho im not convinced my English is good, but the comments i've received from this blog as to the manner i write, have been encouraging =)

Research is something i'm obsessed with ever since the internet started to get so convenient. I've researched extensively for the Degree programme that i'd like to enrol back in 2005 and the best education loan (read: lowest interest) to support the sch fees. OCD, Money making, Job, Music Diploma for Zubair (more on this later) and more.

I believe i have what it takes to be a researcher bcos of my keen interest in number. In my testimonial, my principal wrote that i have analytical skills, and that fits the bill for most of the research job requirement.

But Shldn't leave in Dec! Should wait till BONUS! hahaha

Stop it!

Ok Julissa! Stop fantasizing! Wake Up baby!

Stop surfing www.misatravel.com.sg or www.fascinating.com.sg for all those wonderful holidays you cant afford. I'm not even talking about Dubai or Melbourne... I'm just talking about a 3D2N to Bintan/Bangkok. it costs freaking min $500 per person lah!

You see... i just realised that for this Pakistan Trip of which the flight is about 7hrs long... i WONT HAVE my hubby with me!!!!! How sian / irritating is that?! I mean its not like i travel for more than 6hrs every year you know... and the one time that i CAN and WILL be going to, i dont have my hubby with me... I know i have accepted the shortened trip readily... but this realisation just keeps me down, man.

Furthermore, last night when we were at the airport, he kept saying, 8th dec here i come... and it'd be only HIM and WE/US... so frustrating.. i feel so... singled out!

And btw, after the shortened trip and - 2 half days due to eve of PH, i have 2 extra annual leave for the year!!!

So i thought i'd go for a short getaway with Zubair before 8th Dec so i wldnt feel so lovesick hehehe...

The best i could find was $238 per pax for 3D2N at Sunway lagoon. I cant even raise the total amount by end Nov.

The thing is.. i wanna spend an extended weekend with him but i dont want it to be like last weekend where both of us got SUPER bored. so a trip to M'sia, i tot was achievable... But doesnt look like it... Ok, i can opt for a 3* Stanford Hotel ... BUt???? All the way to KL to stay in Stanford? I dont know man...

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *pulls hair*

Im pretty sure Zubair thinks i'm a crazy woman now.

Boy or Girl?

Being the youngest daughter of 3 girls... I've always wanted another male figure in the family beside my father ie an OLDER bro.. well.. that's impossible now isnt it?

So my only consolation is to have baby boys! Im just tired of being surrounded by girls.

Also, i wanna populate the world with more boys because i believe the no of males are decreasing and if it goes so low, it would mean the end of the world is coming! ok side track a bit: one of the signs of Qiyamah/Armageddon is that the ratio of men to women is 1 : 10 (or 25?). The rationale is that there'd be a great war and all the boys are finished!

Zubair and i have reached an agreement that 4 children would be nice for our family. 1 child is unheard of, 2 is a bit too little, 6 is too many, 4 is just nice.

I have always insisted on an EVEN number family. Not 3 not 5. because being the youngest member of 5 in the family, i always find myself the odd one out, the one who has no partner to sit with in the bus, who has to sleep in the extra bed in the hotel etc etc...

I imagine that i'd have 4 BOYS! yup all four of them! Like i said im tired of girls.

I know being the only female in the family can be quite scary.

  1. I'd prolly be the only one interested in doing the household chores
  2. I'd hafta dress more decently as opposed to be surrounded by daughters
  3. Not much shopping for girls' stuff that i'd have wanted for myself when i was small!

So i might want a girl after all. She can be the 2nd or 3rd one. Because preferably the first one is a boy so he can be The Responsible One looking after the baby bros and sister. And she cannot be the last one because then she'd be the SPOILEST of all! and i'd certainly dont want that to happen lest she'll be like me! hahahah

Having watched 4 full seasons of Malcolm in the Middle, i just realised now what a chaotic bunch 4 boys can be!

http://www.veoh.com/videos/v458153M4S6JxKZ Here's a link of when the mother is pregnant and wishing its a girl.

So now i changed my mind again. 2 against 2 is the most ideal, not to mention BALANCED.

I have this wierd crazy syndrome of needing everything to be balanced. When i eat, i need the rice and the gravy to be proportionately equal so that everything will finish at the same time. And then there's the EVEN versus ODD number thingy. and others lah..

Oh i digressed yet again!

What am i doing talking about having boys or girls when im actually SCARED of delivering a baby?!?! My legs will always turn jelly whenever i hear stories about baby deliveries, how widely torn it would be and then u'll need STITCHES! STITCHES!!! and if Ceasarian, how the doc will tug and push ur baby out from a small opening that they cut earlier and how dreadfully PAINFUL the anaethetic is when they jab it into your freaking spine! *SHIVER*

Just the other day, Zubair was frantically searching for this video he saw the other day on youtube. When he finally got it, and showed it to me, i screamed to him to shut it off! Its a freaking video of a woman in effing labour! Poor Zubair. Sorry honey but im really scared of it. If i watch it, i'd be in danger of just adopting children and not having them myself!

So well.. let's see how this will go.. hopefully early next year! I can't wait! But Im scared. Im anxious! Im dreading it.. I'm ... i'm....

Housewife in Training

About the only EXTRA things i do as a wife is making TEA for him every night after dinner.

Even then, sometimes i negotiate with him if
A) i can make him the instant tea using tea bags instead of tea dust, the way he likes it or
B) he can make it himself when im too tired after work.

I dont even make the bed because most of the time i left before he woke up. And i should add, he's doing a great job at that!

However, yesterday I had a taste of being a housewife .. OK, SEMI-housewife for a day.

I was home and Zubair out the whole day.

While missing him, i got to being productive. I cleared the cups, made the beds, dump the soiled clothes into main laundry basket and cleaned the table.

When he came home, i massaged his legs and feet knowing how tired he must have been.

After Iftar (break fast), i made tea for him. and then massaged his back and feet again.

I know this is not much because i didnt cook dinner nor did i do laundry or other household chores that day. But it feels nice. Ok it's only 1 day... i prolly may get bored after so long.. But i will take up classes and teach part time / freelance... write a book. hehe I will not be so bring also when we have children.. ok they might get on my nerves... but hey! We can't have the cake and eat it! No no... that proverb sounds wrong... We can't eat cake and NOT GAIN a few pounds.. and inches!! hahahaha

Anyways, I longgggg to cook for him, wash his clothes, clean the house bla bla bla... IN OUR OWN HOUSE.

Japanese Uncle

Cik Ajis moved in to his new Anchorvale house Sat and invited us over yesterday!

and we discussed more housing issues.

  1. He bought this 5room flat at 170k direct from HDB
  2. He did the floors, kitchen cabinets and wardrobe at 17k
  3. Mummy said get one near parents will get another $40k grant even though another sibling have already taken that grant
  4. If i buy that 3-room Marsiling @ 60k, i'd finish paying the house when i buy it! MIRACULOUS!
  5. Kak Long said, better to buy cheaper house and balance of the money buy a car than buy that 365k house in Farrer Park Rd. Which is true cos if u have a car u get to go more places, not just Little India.

I find it totally ridiculous that we, my fav cuzzies and i, were talking to each other, camera whoring our own faces and ignoring the hosts! we even snapped off most of the food that we brought for them!! we even forgot to take picture of the house! I took the liberty of taking pictures of the other members of the family and wanted to snap the house also but a bit paisei/shy?

But nearly towards the end of the day Aunty Kouri and i had something in common to talk about. SHE LOVES PUNJABI suits! She's been wanting one for the past 2 or 3 yrs!! hehehe we'll definitely make her some while we're in Pakistan. We discussed material, colours, type ie for everyday or functions bla bla bla. We talked about how we met and how THEY met. we talked about her pregnancy.

She's due next month and really dont look like it! She's soooooo small. So frail and fragile like most japanese women are. We'll have a new cuzzie!! Can't wait to see how a Malay and Japanese mix will look like. Nur commented that this baby will be born an Aunty!!! hahaha and he or she's gonna be a BABY AUNTY to Syifaa', my niece. HAHAHHA So funny.

While i enjoy spending time just with Zubair the two of us... i cant wait to see how our children will be like! Will they have long and sharp noses? chubby cheeks? Long lashes? dimples? Pimply? Short? Hairy???

And what if all four are boys? it'll be chaos in the house just like Malcolm in the middle. I SOOO dont wanna be like the mother! And im soooooooooo liking MITM on www.veoh.com bcos somebody took the initiative to upload every single episode with no missing ones there. I'm at Season 2 Episode 5 and there's like up to 7 seasons uploaded already. Zubair is soooo gonna be sick of it by the time i finish! hahaha

BTW, my blog title's Japanese Uncle bcos Cik Ajis speaks japanese like SUPER fluently. And with them living at home just the two of them, Aunty Kouri has little chance to learn Malay since Cik Ajis speaks Japanese to her, unlike Zubair, we're always hitting Malay words at him.

PS: This entry is so disorganised! haha

Own House?

We have been dreaming about our own house...

My research at the HDB (Housing Development Board - that's where we buy the FLATS from) website shows that

  1. we are NOT eligible to buy yet bcos we didnt meet the criteria of having at least one other occupier of the house to be Singaporean or PR (Permanent Resident).
  2. But we can get a grant of $20,000 for low income families below 2500/m. but must be in employment for 2 yrs. wait for Apr 08
  3. 3-room flat in Woodlands/Marsiling is about 60,000
  4. 4-room flat in Sembawang is 139,000
  5. 5-room flat in Farrer Park Rd (OUR DREAM house location bcos its super new to Little India) is 365,000!!!!
  6. Using the financial calculator online (not very accurate i think), i think we will only be comfortable to buy a house about 200k

and so we have a lot of questions:

  1. can sister be eligible as an occupier?
  2. What is the max loan amount HDB can give us?
  3. If my dream house is not on the HDB list, can i and how do i buy from the open market? is there any price difference?

Actually i have a lot more questions, but i cant seem to remember it now.

Things to think about when buying our own house are:

  1. Bills: Utility, Internet, Conservation? (sampah), taxes???
  2. Additional own transport costs (since currently i always take a lift from dad)
  3. FURNITURE!!!

Of course these are just planning lah. Definitely, we will hafta wait till Zubair's got a stable job and everything. We're just looking ahead and at the same time fantasise...

You know, we actually surveyed the HDBs around Little India that night. We went up to the 10th floor of the Farrer Park Road (the newer flats) and the view was just breathtaking! the surroundings are nice. I wont even mind if we hafta buy from the old flat bcos i LOVE little India!!! It's so lively with 24-hr shopping centre Mustafa around... late night supper/shopping... saree/shalwar kameez ogling... and i love the fact that Zubair loves it too :D

OK sabar sabar...

Disappointments...

High expectations = Great Disappointments

I was expecting salary last saturday.... But they seem to have forgotten...

I was expecting another salary this friday but gotta know last friday that the family can only do once a week for the time being... ie it would take longer to complete 4 sessions :(

I based my shopping and budget on these two expectations... so now really hafta sit tight...

But let me indulge in some fantasy...

If i win that $800 and crowned the Singapore Insurance Idol 2, I would:

  1. Give my family a treat at Sakura. 7 pax. $70
  2. Buy that lingerie i kept looking but didnt buy. $40
  3. Buy contact lens. Had been wearing specs to save on the lens. $100 - $20 voucher
  4. Go for a much needed Pedicure. $30
  5. Hunt for our 1st day Hari Raya Dress. $60
  6. Send last years' Raya Dress and bridal bedsheet from Mar for laundry. $50
  7. Get proper Anti-Virus Software. $60?
  8. Go to the dentist. $60 but claimable
  9. Buy 5 tudungs and 2 blouses. $65
  10. Go Bowling + Arcade. $50
  11. Save the balance for my Pakistan Trip.

How much is balance anyway? *pause to calculate* $295 only!!!! *faint* that is IF i win that $800... if i only get $100?? Jeez.. In that case, i guess i'll just buy the Hari Raya Dress and save the rest.

So pple.. u can see that the prize money is fully allocated. So... understand understood.

Dream Child

That day, i had a dream i just gave birth to a baby. at first, i was confused of the gender and kept forgetting. In the end, it was decided to be a boy. His face was sooooooo white and pure... then suddenly he became a toddler... a very cute one with a VERY Round face, almost like a circle. and his fringe were getting into his eyes.. u know the bowl cut hairstyle. haha then i push up his fringe to see his face... and i just cooed.. bcos he is soo cute.

I relate this story to my sisters and their comment, "Oh dah start best nak ada anak lah ni." which means oh u've started to want a child now.

Truthfully, i wasn't really exhilarated abt having children. At first, i told him let's wait for 2 years. but he bargained down to 1 year, just after the dec wedding in Pakistan. 1) I wanna be the hubby's pampered one for as long as i can. 2) and i dont wanna lose sleep bcos of taking care of them and 3) ultimately... i get really SUPER squeamish when i hear pregnancy and birth stories. so u can say im REALLY scared to deliver one..

In any case, we've planned to have 4 kids. ideally, 2 boys 2 girls or 3 boys 1 girl. and the first boy will be named TUFEIL after his maternal grandfather who was almost like a father to him. i like the name TUFEIL bcos: 1) it means "dearest boy" 2) Arabic cum Urdu 3) very diff from typical singaporean malay muslim names

I asked him about girls' names but mostly, they dont SOUND like girlish names like Khursheed. God i still remember in the beginning before marriage he wanted to name his daughter MEHVISH!!! his ex's name. THAT IS SOOO TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE OK??

So we're still hunting for girl's name... we have a few up our sleeves but i want something different like Tufeil... Let's see lah... maybe i should ask Ammi ji for suggestion...

Gamer? Reviewer? What will i be in 5 yrs?

I have always liked playing computer games... but over the past one or two years, i have really been obsessed with them!

Mostly i like Hidden Objects, Strategy and Cake Mania style games (i dont know what category it goes into). I often feel frustrated if there's no full free trial around. Not the free for 60min kind but the full version but free... I usually go to websites Shockwave and Realarcade to get my dose... but they are often quite lagged behind. Anyway just sign up for free trial then cancel after 10 days for the former and after 30days for the latter and u actually get to play FULL version, FREE! The latter is better because u can KEEP the game and play for as long as you want and u can redownload it in another pc!

Anyways... as i was saying, i feel frustrated that i cant get the good games fast enough. then today i stumbled upon this site Game Tunnel and they are inviting people to write game reviews!!! U dont get paid but u get FREE games! Downside? u have a 2 week deadlines to write the review.

So now... i have a new aim... in 5 years' time, i would want to

1. be a full time housewife,
2. give Iqra lessons part-time
3. write game reviews free lance!!!
4. be a regular gym patron!
5. ad-hoc Driver

OK work hard for now...
