Powered by Podbean.com

The song is rather catchy. By Mya. Here's the lyrics. Let me see if the audio works. Then i will update later with my comments.

**********

It's after midnight and shes on your phone (phone)

Sayin'come over cuz shes all alone (lone)

I could tell it was your ex by your tone (tone)

Why is she callin now after so long

Now, what is it that she wants

Tell me what is it that she needs

Did she hear about the brand new benz that you just bought for me

Cuz yall didnt have no kids

Or share no mutual friends

And you told me that she turned trick when yall broke up in 96..

HOOK

Wutcha gon' do when you cant say no

And the feelings start to show boy I really need to know and..

How ya gonna act

How ya gonna handle that

Wutcha gonna do when she wants you back

REPEAT HOOK

There's no need to reminisce bout the past (past)

Obviously cuz that shit did not last (last)
I Know how a woman will try to game you (you)

Don't get caught up because baby, you'll lose

Now what is it that she wants

Tell me what is it that she needs

Did she hear about the brand new Benz that you just bought for me

Cuz yall didnt have no kids

Didnt share no mutual friends

And you told me that she turned trick When yall broke up in 96..

REPEAT HOOK 3X

Tell me why she on the phone in the middle of the night

Tell me why she is your life trying to get whats mine

She dont know me, shes about to know me

Im in you life thats how its gon' be

I seen her photo, she aint even all that

So if you want her back, you can take her back

Cuz game recognize game, i can do the same thing

Get it right, change or take back this ring

REPEAT HOOK 3X

My Fluctuating Weight

A follow up from my "Slimming Ambition Renewed!!" entry.

I mentioned that in Dec 06, i was quite happily posing for pictures having just finished a slimming programmed and started going to the gym.

Then, I was at my all time high somewhere in June this yr. Soon after i started on the Starvation programme, i lost 3. One thing i dont like about starving myself is that it gives me constipation lah! There wasn't any good time in the washroom at all! Nonetheless, i maintained till i started on the slimming pills + back to gym initiatives in Oct.

If you count from June to date, i have lost 8.

It hadn't been easy tho. the weight can go up and down overnight!

If you recall, i bought 2 weeks' supply of the slimming pill. i lost prolly another 3 during that 2 weeks. then disaster struck. It was in the middle of the month and the bank is dry with nothing to spare to get more supplies. I had to wait another 2 weeks till payday to buy them. i gained 1.5 - 2kg back!

Last week, i looked at myself from the sides in the mirror and smiled. that is, until i let go of contracting my abdomen! LOL But i was still quite happy with the result.

This week, despite going to the gym 4 days in a row, today's weight actually increased from Tuesday's figure albeit by 700gm but its mental torture! WHY, u asked? Because i've been eating a LOT!! Result from giving Zubair treats.

See... On Tues night we ate at FIG & Olive right, then later otak2 for supper. wed night, we ate lavishly at Taj Samudra. Thurs night i didnt eat but mummy packed like 2 scoops of nasi lemak for my lunch. It was so yummy i cldnt bear throwing it away so i finished it all! Imagine if we hadnt eaten so much, i cld've actually lost quite a lot!

Not only had i been having heavy dinners but heavy breakfasts too! Packing leftover dinners from the night before. *Shake head*

Having said that, i still left the gym feeling much lighter and confident with the figure -8kg in mind. There were springs in my steps as i walked back to the office with my head held high. I could see my neck bone more now and my jawline (aka double chin) is much reduced.

but Hey! Dont slack now! the mission is still just half done. you have another 7 to lose!

That is until i get pregnant! OMG i can't bear the thought of all my efforts going down the drain while trying to grow a baby! This is a secret but let me tell you that Zubair said let's do it after he comes back from holiday! I'm actually excited! oh i dont know! =)

Pedicure LONG Overdue

OK i know its disgusting but those are the hard skins i peeled from my heels! Dont u just LOVE to play with these?? Others like to play with their taik hidung (translation please!) even grosser!

SO SHIOK (feels nice) ley!! I like tearing them off my heels... and i esp like to leave them half dangling then show it to mummy or hubby. They will surely scream one! My mum asked, "Doesnt it hurt?" I said no lah.. BEST!

But actually if i accidentally peeled too deep, walking will be quite a nuisance. Only then would i hastily paste on thick slabs of heels moisturising cream day n night. haha

I DO have the foot file like this one.

But im no professional pedicurist and the hard skin will quickly grow again before i can say, "BAH Humbug!" despite all the creams i wear. Makes me even lazier to follow the regime.

I just wanna be pampered and visit the feet salon. Either that, or get me this pedicure tools set

Xmas and MY BIRTHDAY is coming! LOL

Eating Places in Little India

In answer to Kak Adik's and Butterfly's comments on my "Another Treat for Him" entry, i hafta create a whole new post!

Boy i'm certainly NO Expert.

What i can say is Taj Samudra is a halal certified fine dining restaurant located at

202 Serangoon Rd #B1-01 Singapore 218069Tel : 6299 0183

Its just opp of the busstop after the temple. Its between Hindoo Road and Baboo Lane in this map

Click the picture for closer look or click the link to look at the full PDF file.

Hmmm... Zubair and i had canvassed the area looking for chappati and/or real Pakistani restaurant. Most are South Indian food.

His fav is Usman Restaurant located just before Desker Road by the main road. But they dont serve chappati. Instead Naan is the official roti of choice priced at $1 if im not wrong.

MY fav is of course KOMALA's. I prefer the fast food version situated by the main road also just after Mustafa centre. But if you want the slow food restaurant is somewhere between Campbell Lane and Dunlop St by the main road.

We've also eaten at the hawker centre at Tekka Market just at the Busstop NO 2 in the map. This is the SUPER CHEAP range. but be prepared for smelly smells and "roasted" smell sticking on your hair and tudung. The good thing about it is that it has a wide range of dishes to choose from so if ur partner doesnt wanna eat too Indianish food, can always order other things.

We've also tried A B Mohamed Restaurant a BIG NO NO! pricey! We ordered Keema with green peas and the latter were as hard as marbles! LOL. The MICRO MINI serving of Keema + 2 pcs of below average size chappati is $5? and juices start from $2! But at least its air-conditioned and you can use NETS. PLUS they have chappati and paper dosai under one roof which is a rare find! They have 2 branches right opp each other along Syed Alwi Road, before Mustafa.

Blue Diamond is another place where i've ever eaten. Its along Buffalo facing the Tekka Market just now. It is alleged as selling the BEST briyani dam. Im not convinced tho. PLUS the place is SUPER crampy! i felt a bit claustrophobic lor... u can say Cheap range also.

oh yes we've also been to this one restaurant just after Lembu Road. Can't remember what's the name but the Naan is TO DIE FOR! That is, if you like the crispy kind! Price is just a bit below mid-range. Air-conditioned But nothing fancy.

Butterflyrubrics, there are a LOT of eating places. Just walk down from Mustafa against the traffic flow along the main road. Some are a bit too tacky. Others are Hindus and the halal status is quite doubtful. Why dont u start with these first? hehe There are more inside the smaller streets, but like you, i havent bothered to explore THAT much yet. But by the looks of it, most of them sell beers ah. and im not very comfortable with that.

And So... this is my review of the eating places I've been to in Little India. Feel free to add YOUR review.. Huda.. i'm sure you know of MORE places. Recommend lah!

Scary Night...

It was 12:45am this morning when we finally settled down to sleep.

As we were snuggling... we heard some strange sounds..

You know, living in HDB flats, we always encounter sounds of falling marbles and furnitures being dragged? We always assumed that it's the noisy neighbour upstairs right? But how come the top floor occupants still hear the same kinda noises?

My father also has another theory that in between our ceiling and their floor there's a gap. Rats live in between that gap and cause all those "noises". God knows.

Well this one last night, sounded unlike those 2.... It was like drops of water... Sometimes one big one at a time, sometimes a few small drops. If it was the neighbour upstairs, the sound cldn't've travelled thru the thick layer in between. It cldn't've been from the opened window, cos that kind of water drops would have a different sound effect when splashed against the windows.

Zubair got restless... i was chanting the Ayatul Kursi in my heart amidst my grogginess begging for the sound to go away. Meanwhile, it kept coming thru in 5 - 10 sec intervals. Finally, Zubair nudged me and asked, "What's that VOICE?" Out of all words he HAD to use "VOICE"!? he could have used "sound" or "noise". It just got scarier then.

But i just motioned him to hush. We, Malays, call it "Celupar" or "fast-mouth" if you "tegur2" or acknowledge those strange happenings. Eg: when we walk along a "haunted" place or wooded areas, then a smell moved past you. Be it nice or foul smell, you NEVER EVER say, "HEy, what's that smell?" It's simply taboo!

Then we just huddled closer in the single blanket... and drifted to sleep.

Alhamdulillah nothing happened. When i asked Zubair just now, he said he didnt know what that was nor did he see anything or whatever.

Well.. guess its back to closed windows thru the night for me when Zubair's away :(

Another Treat for Him

With his flights drawing near, we quickly made our way to Mustafa Centre to buy "souvenirs" for his family back home.

Zubair said that Ammi likes to get creams and cosmetics. But i kept telling him get something that is NOT available in Pak. If creams or whatever, a brand that is NOT available there.

In the end he bought Nivea, Tiger Balm and Enchanteur bath set. I find it a bit funny to be buying these things as souvenirs but then again, HE finds it funny to be giving out KEY CHAINS. So there. Another cultural difference. Well, as long as the receiver likes the gifts!

Dinner time! We cldn't go to Usman, much to our desire, bcos i didnt have cash handy. So i suggested Taj Samudra.

At first, Zubair said that place is boring cos the last time we went, there were no other pple! I said, "But there's TV...?" Afterwards, he conceded after we cldnt be bothered to look for any other fine dining restaurant that accepts VISA. That Delhi Restaurant is not as Halal as Taj Samudra or what we lovingly called Samundar.

First up, our juices.

Left is Fresh Apple Juice. Right is Sweet Lassi.

The fresh apple juice is so fresh after 30min it turned BROWN!! It amazed me lah!

The dinner spread

I told Zubair i want something spicy hot. So he recommended Chicken Mircha something on the left. Then he ordered Bhuna Mutton. When the dishes came, i said, "Hmmm they are brown in colour. Don't look hot to me. Hot should be RED." BOY! Was i mistaken. The Chicken was SO DAMN SPIcy lah!!!

The Roti/bread we ordered are 1 chappati (they call it Tandoori Roti) @ $2.50 each!!! 1 Cheese Naan i think $3.50. and 2 plain naans @ $1.80 each. That's all together 8 halves!

I predicted that the dishes wldn't be enough so i insisted Zubair to recommend a fish dish. Im not a fish person but I dont know why but i was feeling very fishy last night. Perhaps the description for Fish Tikka Masal was SUPEr enticing! Unfortunately, its priced at $11.90 which is ridiculous even for the I'm-in-a-splurging-kinda-mood ME.

Zubair decided on Fish Methi. The menu said Fish cooked with fenugreek and spring onion in thick gravy. Hmmmmm what the hell's fenugreek?? Ok whatever, i trust Zubair's choice.

It's yet another brown coloured dish. Didnt especially look appetizing or anything. But i was glad to find that its sliced fishes n not whole fish. Then i took a bite.... and i was in HEAVEN!!!! *drifting... drifting...* I CANNOT tell you how lovely it tasted to me! The fish has this BBQed grilled taste to it.. not too hot not too bland... i didnt even mind the black leafy thingies.. i just gobbled them good at the same time savouring each chew and each sip of the sweet juice. *cloud 9*

Seriously, i've never tasted anything so good. Esp for fish! Such a shame that i was already full! So we packed it for home.

Most importantly, the ambience is cozy. Complete with a flat panel TV playing Hindi songs video clips on and on. So much so that i didnt even realised that i signed for a $46+ check until Zubair told me later that night at home!

Afterwards, we went to the spot next to Lembu (cow) Road for Zubair to buy his Paan. As usual, i was asked to wait at the other side of the road in 7-11 store bcos he doesnt like me to be there with sooo many guys loitering around.

But not 2 min later, Ammi called! I struggled with my Urdu to say that Zubair is at the shop buying Paan. I didnt know how to say he'll call back and besides i dont feel very good to hang up on her when she's already made the effort to call. So i quickly walked over to Zubair and handed him the phone.

My God, did i feel uneasy or what! I felt like all the guys were staring at me like i was dinner or something. i focused my attention to Zubair and didnt look around anywhere. Zubair was still on the phone when the paan was ready n we were walking away. so i readjusted my hold of the long umbrella ready for any combat! hahhaah merepeQ

Lugging 5 shopping bags and my gym bag between the 2 of us, we staggered home. Tired from the night's outing and haven't really recovered from the previous night's!

I keep telling myself.. its ok ... just for this week. Then i can sleep and stay at home all day to my heart's content! Another thing that's ok for this week is EATING UP. As long as i keep going to the gym to balance it out. Jia yo jia yo! (Chinese for C'mon!)

Trip Update

It's Final.

I have actually CANCELLED my trip to Pakistan this December. Boohoo...

Well... I'm left with only 2 days of annual leaves and by the look of it my boss wasn't really pleased. So i've decided to postpone it. Zubair said I should "take care" of my employment and not risk to lose it. Pakistan will still be open to me in the next year insya'Allah.

041207 - Yes! I Got the Hang of Hanging Out

UPDATE: Full pictures are now available at Zubair's Multiply

**********************************

As of today 5th Dec, 4pm, the countdown to Zubair's flight back to Pakistan is 3 days 23hrs!!

So, we kinda busied ourselves seeing Singapore again.

Before that, first stop, FIG & OLIVE. We were both ravenous and i allowed ourselves to indulge a bit and at the same time, got to test my CitiBank Clear Card! :D

Our hungry faces

Their Sicilian Tuna Penne is sooo my current fav!!

Their CRISPY waffles fries are to DIE for!

(Metaphorically speaking of cos)

He needs to go to toilet, so we went back to MY office. Mathieu was still in office but left soon after and we had the whole office to ourselves to camwhore!! hahaha

My Super Mentel (no translation available. LOL) Pose

Zubair at work! :D

After that, we had a mission. To find this club to play Soft Tip eDarts. Hanani actually went to one with her colleagues but she cant recall the name nor add, so gave me an add of another nearby place with the same game.

It's located at 45A Neil Road. So we walked down MND and URA, then walked into Murray Street and lost our bearing and consulted the map. After determining where's the MRT and Maxwell house, we headed towards Maxwell road and then realised that we had to turn back to Tg Pagar Rd when we had passed there already! Crossed over and finally found Neil Road!

Zubair commented that finding a place on foot is more troublesome. In a way, i get what he means in the sense that it takes a long time to reach some place on foot as opposed to being on a motorised vehicles. But then my view is that in a car, its more difficult to make a quick spontaneous decision while on the move. And then if you're parked, u wldn't see the landmark to visualise the place or whatever.

Anywaysssss Neil Road was sooooo scary!! At least for this tudung clad ME. FULL of neon lighted signs, logos of beers and bulky men loitering around (they are actually valets). It was almost 8pm i think and dark as can be... so i said to Zubair, lets go to another place. and he said Boat Quay.. ok we walked all the way down Tg Pagar Rd to the food center... then Fuji Xerox towers then finally to the bus stop to go to Boat Quay. I dont know how far 100m equates to on real land so i cant gauge how far we walked but simply put, MY FEET WERE HURTING BIG TIME! Furthermore, i had the wrong shoes on! GRRRR Fortunately, i have Zubair's hands to hold on to. *wink*

It was here that we truly... hang out. We just sat on the bridge, catching the breeze, looking at the boats, waving at tourists and just ... chilled. It was REALLY nice not to just TALK to him but to actually hear HIM talk.

We got to counting how tall the UOB building is. He came to a 60 odd figure. and then he wondered out loud, "How long do you think it takes for ALL the shit to travel down from 60th floor?" As if that wasnt enough, he added, "Imagine all the stools break into pieces as they succumb to gravity!" NONSENSE! I love You! LOL

We then walked the length down the museum and parliament house then turned back along Boat Quay back to Raffles MRT. If not for the simple reason that Zubair was there to support me, the walk was just TORTUROUS!! But anyways, it just struck us that we've never actually taken any photos IN the train nor at the station. Camwhoring again!

Underground station

Please Q behind the yellow line.

In one of the newer sets of trains

We reached Woodlands 10:40pm. But that's not the end of the night for us yet. I just cldn't stop myself from stuffing him with local food.

It's Otak-otak!

Literally it means BRAIN. But we didnt use ANY brain at all in this. Its actually fish paste + chilli stuffed in two coconut leaves and then grilled / smoked to perfection. it's just delish!

Look! Could it be an aphrodisiac? LOL

December

Finally! The breeze is here!

I've never noticed how cool December is until now, after a torturing July-Aug.

I have been at home for the past 5 days and i can truly appreciate the breeze bcos no aircon in the day at home. Not just that, we didnt even need the stand fan sometimes not even the ceiling fan! That's how cool it's been. I dont even hafta say we havent been using the aircon for what? a week? and still we were cold.. granted, we left the windows open lah.

So this entry is to appreciate the gift Allah has sent us, to praise Him for His thoughtfulness in His creation, to remember that He loves US.

Subhanallah, wal hamdulillah, wa la ilaha illa Allah, wallahu Akbar.
