How I Met My "Angel"

Some of you may have seen this photo on my FB - but this will be the full story of how I discovered this gem.

I still remember that fateful day 3rd of October 2011, my first sister, Ashley, begged and begged me to go with her to Wellness Express Studio (just across the street) for moral support on her first liquid lunch. I was totally dragging my feet to go there because I wanted to eat REAL FOOD. But because I'm a *cough* good *cough* sister, I followed along.

I just listened to what her coach shared with me about the benefit of good nutrition.. How the aloe concentrate mixed with water helps to clean your internal system, and how 500ml of their thermogenic tea is equivalent to running twice around the tracks. I did not doubt the product. What I doubted was the taste and whether it could truly keep me full. I did the free health evaluation but walked away free.

As time goes, Ashley updated me how she's been going there every lunch time that she was available and how she had lost 1kg after a few drinks. And the bell started ringing for me and i thought, "Why not just give it a shot? You've run out of other options. Slimming centre is too expensive. Don't have time for gym. Cant take slimming pills cos not BFing safe."

With that, I bought a 10-day membership pass to drink the shake-tails (chocolate/vanilla/tropical base shake + assortment of fruits) for lunch. After my 5th session, I discovered I actually lost 1kg! I actually was still not entirely convinced. I mean weighing yourself in the morning, you will often find you are 1kg lighter before breakfast. so 1kg was like... nothing.

And then they started bugging me to enter the Weight Loss Challenge to potentially win $1,000 / $500 / $100 / $50 / $50. You have nothing to lose, just fats! The reason why I was so reluctant was because I'm afraid I'd be lazy to make my shakes in the morning. I like drinking it for lunch when OTHER people made it for me. But what one of the operators told me kinda sink in, "You just need to work hard the first 3 - 6 months. After you've reached your ideal weight, you just need to maintain..." I took another couple of session to finally sign up for the WLC.

To make a long story short, I lost 5kg and 3% body fat by the end of the 1-mth challenge. I did not win but I still walked away happier than ever having lost so much and stayed motivated throughout the process, thanks to my sisters and my coach.

That was end of November. December was my "off" month due to my 2 weeks holiday to Turkey and Spain (To be blogged!!!). Surprisingly I maintained my weight with just one shake a day but A LOT of eating! I've lost a further 2kg as of today. and have another 6kg to go till 55kg.

I'm VERY DETERMINED to be healthy! *wink*

Pick me! Pick me!

I'm supposed to write about how me and my colleagues went out for Eid visiting for the first time! But I haven't saved the pictures they've tagged me on FB yet... So you hafta take this instead...

I'm not sure if this is being OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) or not but I have this sort of habit to finish my stash before opening a new packet or box of something. For example, my stock of treasury tags, the green strings...

Please excuse the messiness of my drawer

Most of the time I will finish the ones that had been taken out from the box earlier, to the very last piece, before opening a new one. I feel like they're calling me to use them... they don't wanna stay in the drawer for long. They wanna be useful!

I will feel upset when a pen, whose ink I have been trying to finish before using a new one, suddenly disappear! It's like I don't have closure to using it till the very last drop!

At the grocery store when buying milk, I can't help feeling guilty when I choose the carton with the longest expiry date because I know I won't be using it to cook within the week.

I can almost hear them scream "Pick me! Pick me!!" Maybe I even sometimes secretly say, "Sorry, I have no choice."

Do you have this kinda though too? Or is it just me?

First Ramadhan

I'd like to tell you that my first two Ramadhan nights have been fruitful. But that would be lying.

Tufeil slept early the previous night and then woke up with us for sahur at 5am. After Fajr, I fed him some yogurt. I noticed there were some lumps in it, so I took a lick to determine that it is still edible... It took 2 whole minutes for me to remember that I was fasting and shouldn't be eating! LOL.

I took leave for the rest of the day because my dear boy was having fever and needed my comforting. He slept from 8 - 12noon on and off while I played MY FARM LIFE for 2 hours and slept for the remainder.

Somebody's screenshot of the game

When we woke up, I tried to feed Tufeil but he had no appetite. He asked to watch some cows and we happily played game again. I finally managed to get him to eat Mashed potatoes with sausage after which, he wanted to sleep again! Woohoo more time for me....

I urged him to eat some more when he woke up an hour later. I made his favourite nutella sandwich. It certainly tested my faith bcos it happens to be my favourite too. LOL. While he ate, I let him watch TV and I dozed off on and off ... until 6pm, when i told myself, "Enough is enough!", pulled myself together and cleaned up and prepared for break fast.

What a total waste of the day when I could have been reaping rewards doing good deeds. I know. I'm ashamed of myself. I pity my soul self.

(That's not to say I did not sleep smiling that night)

I'm FREE

At last, I'm officially Divorced.

We separated ways on 12th May 2009 when Tufeil was 6 weeks old. There were attempts to reconcile but it fell through. I recall a few people dropping comments on my blog asking how come I didn't write about Z anymore. I didnt really answer directly to the point because at that juncture, it was also not clear to me whether the marriage would last or otherwise.

It took about 6 months to go through the registration process and counselling and to reach the Filing of Summons stage. And then I ignored that and the case was automatically closed. I reopened it abt a year ago. Had to go through all those again. and after filing of summons was the mediation. Alhamdulillah, we were able to get to an agreement on maintenance for the child and mine as well as custody in one session.

Filing of Summons was about $35 for both parties. Mediation $135 for plaintiff, in this case, me and $35 for defendant.

I won't dwell on my reasons for this divorce. Suffice to say that he uttered the Talak (divorce) and there were a huge communication breakdown and trust issues and that his only reason was because of my family.

It is ok if you think I deserve it. It is ok if you think it's my own doing for being so naive and got married after 6 months of knowing a guy online. I'd like to think that I've come out of this more matured. I've become a responsible mother/person (albeit still a lazy and uninspired one but hey, I've started cooking and cleaning, that's HUGE!).

The most annoying part about being separated/divorced is people assuming you're happily married. I have had complete strangers asking me "When are you having a second one?" and a cab driver "Wah you go out alone with your baby ah? Your husband never follow you ah? Wah so good are you. you let him sleep at home." Most of the time I don't care to explain that I'm separated/divorced because it will inevitably lead to insensitive questions like, "Oh what happened?" And then... "Oh im sorry..." God! It's like a broken record.
I don't miss him at all. In fact, believe you me I'm very much happier from the moment he left. All the worries and heartaches just poofed into thin air the moment I decided I no longer care. However, I do miss being loved and taken care of. God knows it has been more than just those 2 years of separation. I am not entirely certain the right guy is out there for me. But, a girl can dream.

Most importantly is I have sole responsibilities of bringing up Tufeil to be a good muslim. It won't be easy but Alhamdulillah for the good support system I have. I may complain a lot but without my family and friends, I'd've prolly turned crazy by now.

Nowadays, I live one day at a time. One paycheck to the next.

First Free Weekend EVER!

At the last minute, my parents decided to bring Tufeil along to their 2D 1N Port Dickson holiday cum wedding invitation for the weekend.

Of course, I was totally elated! This is my first ever free as a bird weekend! Let me see what did I do...

Sat, 2nd July 2011

Woke up at 7.30am to get Tufeil dressed. Watched an episode of Grey's Anatomy and back to bed from 10.30 to 2.30pm. It wasn't really refreshing bcos I kept getting nightmares of waking up late for my 4pm appointment. You know the kind where u though you've woken up but realise you're dreaming and your body is still on the bed?

4pm - Eye and face treatment at NYS.

6.30pm - Library. Found 4 of Mary Janice Davidson vampire queen's novels

7pm - Dinner @ Breeks with my books and beautiful Ice Cream Crumble. I had to specify to them that I want more crumble because the last time it was pitiful!

8pm - 10pm Changed bedsheet, vacuumed and mopped the house.

10pm onwards - watched more grey's anatomy and played SuperMarket Mania 2 while streaming the video (WHY SO SLOW NOWADAYS SINGTEL?!?!!?!?!)

11.30pm - ZZzzzz

Sun, 3rd July 2011

Had to wake up early (9.30am) because I have a singing practice at 10.45 at my friend's place. Followed by TRANSFORMERS

I'm really not a fan of Transformers and have not watched the prequels. But some told me it's easy to understand and its very nice. My take: Patrick Dempsey is the one and only saviour of the movie bcos i love him so much. lol! X-Men is defly more my thing.

Bought Tom Yam Banmian and ate at home in front of more Grey's Anatomy. In between, I baked a brownie, put on a load of laundry, folded the dry ones and hung up the washed ones.

Tufeil came home at 10.30pm already asleep. Although he did mutter "Mummy mummy" half asleep, he did not wake up until 5am where even in his daze he managed to say, "Mummy, Cantiknya!" (Pretty!) referring to the changed bedsheet. LOL.

It was reported that at night, he did not look for me. He fully understood I was not around. But it was a bit diff for him to sleep and ended up on my mum's chest from 2 - 6am. And I heard he had a lot of fun with his cousin's cousin (Syifaa's paternal cousins). He swam at the pool and everything.

There will be another Free weekend next week where I'm going to have my company's annual Dinner & Dance, Carousel Hi tea with Besties and possibly catching Harry Potter 7.2.

Cardio Jam

Just finished my 4th lesson of Cardio Jam and I'd like to think I'm getting better at it.

First lesson, a temp guy trainer taught us and it was awful cos i cld feel his lack of dedication. Without any clue how it was going to be, I was shocked at how strenuous it was! I also didnt have any sport shoes so i wore my comfortable mary jane instead and my knees hurt.

The next 2 days, my whole body ached like crazy. I blamed him for not stretching us properly.

Second week, Ange, our ex colleague who now owns her own dance/exercise mobile school, started. I still didnt have sportshoes so i went barefooted. It was horrible bcos i cldnt jump as it cld hurt my knees.

It was more fun w Ange bcos we know her and her style is very much like the previous dance instructor we had all gone for. She's attentive and corrects our posture and explains which muscle should be feeling some stretch, and that stretching your obliques (in various twisting moves) will help to tone your waistline. The most important thing is to focus everything on your core muscle: the abdomen. Always tuck it in (and therefore engaging it) when doing anything. Again helps you to slim your waistline.

Basically the session would start with some cardio moves incorporating some stretching movements like shoulder rotations while on the move, that make me feel like dying! And then proper stretches before we start being introduced to 5 or 7-steps routine. and then the winding down stretches which still involve a lot of abdominal engagement I can't really do.

On the 3rd week, I got my shoes already but was feeling a bit wheezy so I opted for lo-impact one - meaning there was no Jump in my steps. By the 4th week, the DYING feeling was very brief and I could even jump a bit.  I'm loving it!

We actually have another Stretch & tone (basically Yoga, i think?) class on Wednesdays. But I didn't think it would be effective for me so i don't go for that one. Besides, My parents have class on wednesdays anyways.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the 5th lesson this friday! We only have a total of 12. And can't wait for the dance class to start next!

Just Me in a Long Time

Thursday, 16th June 2011.

Tufeil is out for the day and I squeezed in most of the things i needed to get done that day. I went for my eye treatment after such a long hiatus. The pause is caused by fungal infection (panau) on my face. While i suspected that it was because of the facial wash I bought at the Dead Sea, I also noticed that it got aggravated after each session so I stopped and waited for it to clear up using a medicinal cream called Fungicort.

Anyways, I forgot how lovely it feels afterwards. Because it's been so long, I immediately noticed the difference. I had been feeling so low because (among other things) my skin was so dull. I feel sorta rejuvenated now. Now that my parents don't have anymore classes on Sunday, I can start going regularly once and week.

I booked tickets to X-Men First Class online. Had only 20minutes after finished treatment. I was 4 minutes early but the Internet Booking collection counter was sooo slow, I missed the first 5min of the show boohoohoo =(

LOVE IT! Love that they told the story of how Beast came to be and how Prof X got paralysed. Believe it or not, I used to watch the cartoon a lot when I was in primary school. I mean its not really a girl kinda show but I had loved it even then. However, if you ask me, the actor playing Prof X looks too young and cheeky for my liking. HAHAHAHA

Bowling Tournament

Thursday, 26th May 2011

The WorkHealth Promotion Board sponsored this tournament as part of Keep Healthy Lifestyle programme.

I practised twice prior to the actual event. All averaging 100 points per game.

For this game, we are grouped in 4s. We have 18 groups conquering all the lanes in the alley at Marina Square. Standard group consists of 2F2M. 30 Handicap points given of 3F1M and 60 for 4F. Additionally, a bonus of 10 points are given for groups consisting of at least 2 departments. I'm playing with my other RecClub members but we have 2F2M so we only got 10 bonus points. 3 Games in total.

Hate Flash

Eunice claimed that she doesn't play very well but as it turned out she managed a few strikes and some spares! She was surprised at herself too. The skinny guy has his own ball and bowling shoes but he said it's been YEARS since he last played. He also swung his ball the professional style that curves. It doesn't work out very well for him but still quite good. Now the other guy, he said he didn't play much too. But being a triathlete, I reckon he could figure his way around it fast and he did!

I was totally shocked when I returned to office and found out as a group we got 4th place! I knew we had no chance to be in Top 3 but 4 to me is very good despite the large gap of 211 points difference. Still 4th place out of 18.

And Hey! I'm the best in my team? LOL. That's just shocking. After getting 95 for first game, my RecClub Chairman came to me and said, "C'mon on Jus. Let's target 120." And surprisingly, I managed to exceed that target.

As an individual, I ranked 6th for Top Female w a total of 336 over 3 games. I'm so going to bowl during lunch again soon.

Reached home past 10pm! Thankfully, Mum didn't seem angry much that night. and Tufeil was thrilled he got to stay up a bit later.

My Health

So with a 5% increment and the end of two loans, I felt ready to look at increasing my own insurance coverage. Because I was being loaded (extra premium) @ Manulife, the adviser told me to go back to Prudential where I have existing policies. I met up with Salmah my ex colleague who's handling my portfolio.

Inevitably, with the many health declarations I made, I was being sent for medical exam, lipids test and the like. My major concern is actually diabetes. I had Gestational one when I was pregnant and never did a glucose test again at 6th week, and family history is not on my side, so i really worried like hell. I prick tested myself sometimes. While in the morning the reading was good at 5.0, an hour after a simple meal gave me a 7.5 (ref range 5.5-7).

On top of that, I found out that the reason I was loaded by Manulife was not due to diabetes but to abnormal liver function test!!! What is this Abnormal liver function test?? I tried to google it, but I couldn't understand anything out of it. But it did say that it's actually pretty common and that it could or could not lead to other diseases.

This made me feel quite frustrated with the M adviser. Because firstly, he only told me that my health was "terrible, very terribly" when I asked the reason for the loading which led me to suspect it might be diabetes. And secondly, Salmah pointed out that there's no use of an insurance policy for my son if I, as payee, is not insured. Meaning to say that if I, wanauzubillah, fall sick or whatever, I would still need to keep paying that premium.

Now the results from Prudential is back. They are loading me. But for totally different reason. They've also excluded bladder cancer and carcinoma insitu (early and concentrated cancer) bladder. From $50 budget, I hafta pay $104 per month for Early Crisis Cover. This program will actually pay for medical and other expenses if critical illness are discovered as early as Stage I and II. I actually didn't know that my current critical illness coverage would only pay out at advanced stage. *Slaps forehead*

But the good news is I'm cleared of Diabetes and any abnormal liver function. For that, Alhamdulillah wa shukru lillah.

Off Day w Friends from Work

5th May 2011
Ok so the four of us had been looking forward to the April moolah since like September last year! We promised to treat ourselves to good food once we've received them. Finally they day had come!

I was sooo wonderfully surprised when all of them were ready to take half day leave from work to chill. Thankfully, we are all from different departments, so no problem. So instead of a weekday dinner or a weekend lunch (need to arrange babysitter) we opted for weekday hi-tea @ CAROUSEL!

Because hi-tea only starts at 3.30pm and we can go off at 12.30pm, June and I decided to catch a movie first. The other two, Yani and Midah, opted to shop around in Orchard instead.

I was a bit skeptical about Water for Elephants at first because the movie poster wasn't good enough and I'm not sure if I like a vampire turning soft. But that was the only show with the perfect timing other than Thor which June wanted to watch with her Abang.

And it turned out quite alright. Romantic and loveable. I just don't like how an old man was telling the story. Make me cringe at the prospect of such a good looking man could really age badly. LOL Sorry I'm so superficial! hahaha

And because we got our attractive VB (Alhamdulillah), I managed to finish of my study loan. Just 3 months in advance. HAHA but at least I feel a burden has been lifted! And I treated myself to MAC's primer and liquid eyeliner. =D So mentel me nowadays.

We were about 15minutes late for the hi-tea!! We got a lot of catching up to do, in terms of food intake, with our two friends who were already there.

A bit disappointing that today's theme for main dishes was Asian. Imagine Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rendang, Indian Rojak and prata, Spring Roll, You tiao, Pie Tee, Dumplings, etc... Cold dish, salad and dessert counters remain. PLUS they have DIY ICe Kacang!! YAYY MY FAVOURITE!

Prawns are a must. Mostly, its the sauce that's DELISH!
I had Lychee, jelly and peach in mine. w lotsa syrups

The Four of Us
Behind from left: Hamidah, June
In front: Haryani and Me

Hopefully we can have a FULL day of fun in December. IF our holiday schedule don't clash, that is!

Fish Bake & Orange Cake

Sunday 3rd April 2011. I had about 5hours to myself at home and I got cracking in the kitchen. Thanks to kak Norza for sharing her Tasty Tuna Bake recipe she found in a book.

Tasty Tune bake
from Little Kitchen
1 small red capsicum, seeds and white membrane removed 1 medium onion, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon tomato paste
½ cup milk
1 tablespoon plain flour
½ teaspoon salt
3 pinches of black pepper
1 x 425 g can of tuna
1½ cup cooked white rice
1½ cups grated cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Put the capsicum and onion into a food processor and blitz it to a paste. Tip the paste into a small bowl. Heat the oil in a frying pan. Carefully scrape the paste into the frying pan. Add the tomato paste and fry for about 10 minutes, stirring every now and then. Add the milk, flour, salt and pepper to the frying pan. Mix well and cook over low heat for a couple of minutes. Add the tuna, breaking up the chunks carefully and mixing it in very well. Spread the cooked rice over the base of the baking dish. Spoon in the tuna mixture and spread it over the rice. Finally, top with the grated cheese. Bake into the oven and cook for 14 minutes, or until the cheese is golden. Remove the baking dish from the oven and divide it into 4 big portions.

They actually ran out of Red Pepper at the Fairprice supermarket near my house so I had to use Green Pepper instead. And then to my horrors, I found that my fresh milk is gone from the fridge! (Not sure if somebody drank it or threw it away cause it may have expired?) So I had to substitute with Soymilk instead! HAHAHAHa Instead of rice, I used COUSCOUS because I have bought one quite some time ago and still haven't used it. Also, instead of Tuna, i steamed the Sutchi fillet I still have in my freezer.

I totally cheated by using sliced cheddar cheese.

Some people say the sliced ones are not 100% real as it contains fillers? *shrug*

The colour looks soo not inviting to me. I think it would have looked fabulous with RED pepper

Between steaming the fish, seeding, chopping and blending the green pepper and stirring the eventual gravy, not to mention reading and rereading the recipe every so often, I think more than 30 minutes were gone.

But I've gotta tell you, the taste is like something I've never had before! Well that's prolly because I tend to avoid eating chunks of bell peppers. This blended vege is totally divine. You can totally taste the spice without it being too hot. I think the dairies in the recipe muted the hotness for the sake of our youngs' tongues.

Reeling from the euphoria, I decided to bake a Moroccan Orange Cake I discovered from Bermudabuttercup. The recipe link is here

•4 eggs
•1 1/2 cups sugar
•1/2 cup vegetable oil
•2 cups flour
•4 teaspoons baking powder
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•1/2 cup fresh orange juice
•zest from 1 or 2 oranges
•1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation: Preheat your oven to 350° F (180° C). Grease and flour a tube pan. If using fresh oranges, zest and juice them. With an electric mixer or by hand, beat together the eggs and sugar until thick. Gradually beat in the oil. Stir in the flour, baking powder and salt, and then the orange juice. Beat until smooth, and then mix in the zest and vanilla. Pour the batter into your prepared pan, and bake for about 40 minutes, or until the cake tests done. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 7 to 10 minutes, then turn out onto a rack to finish cooling.

I bought this new tool (the name escapes me) just for the occasion.

I bought this one as I thought I wouldn't be using the actual zesting tool a lot.

Took me probably 10minutes to finish this

I didn't bother to buy or find our old juicer. (ditto reason above) So I squeezed by hand.

Totally ancient mixer. Possibly older than me!
The orange zest got stuck.

and the result!

At the 20th min mark, I was getting worried because the top looked too brown to me. With another 20minutes to go, I was afraid I might get burnt. So I turned down the temperature just a tad and popped it out about 10minutes earlier. But it failed the cake test because when I stabbed it with a knife, it came out with batter sticking to it. So i popped it back on for another 10minutes like the recipe indicated and hoped for the best.

To my surprise, my mum actually liked it! She said its not too sweet, just nice. One tip she did tell me was to shake the pan around to level the batter so it won't come out like a mountain!

My Friday Afternoon

Got off on half day in the afternoon last Friday.

Went to The Cathay to catch Just Go With It. My FAVOURITE ADAM SANDLER!!!! But he gained weight, i think. Yikes~

The movie was nice and reassuring for me that you could still find a suitable match no matter how late in the day it is, where and when you least expect it to.

Before that, I managed to squeeze in some shopping at Plaza Singapura to spend my CapitaMall voucher. I went round the first level, second level, nothing caught my eyes. I only had $90 left and Marks & Spencer is just wayyy wayyy over my budget. I definitely wanted some clothes, you know the $10 or $20 kind but no such stores here. Then I saw John Little and grabbed a dark pink inner shirt, 2 t-shirts to wear at home (otherwise, it seems such a waste to be buying t shirts for sleepwear) and Pierre Cardin's Lovelies... LOVE THEM! 2 pairs for $42!

And AFTER the movie, I had to buy some provisions @ Carrefour to prepare for the lunch I'm hosting the next day. So can you imagine the chaos that was I in the train ride home in the rain...?

French loaf jutting out of John Little bag

Can see my reflection?

And then to make matters more chaotic, I was standing, I put down my loaf and bags down and read a thick hard cover book. And then I repositioned my loaf into my shoulder bag. Later, there was a seat available, I had to heave all the bags and repositioned myself AND the loaf. It was a sight!

At least, I didn't succumb to cab. Well, I almost did but the Queue was too long, i decided the train would be faster in the end.

Hear Year

I would have tweeted about it if I had only brought my hp along today.

I've been having an earache since Monday. It was sooo painful I ditched the idea of staying back late in the office. Luckily, I had some ear drops from the last time. The next day, the pain was gone.

However, the next 3 days, my ears just didn't pop back when it got blocked riding down the lift.

By this morning, Thursday the 4th day, I'm getting paranoid. (I secretly think i'm a hypochondriac. Not that I'm a health freak or even health conscious, but my imagination always become active at the slightest ill symptom.)

What if I lost my hearing totally because I went to the doctor too late? I didn't wanna go initially because I just saw her last week and I dont wanna make myself look bad like always falling sick or something... but I think this cannot be ignored anymore!! I mean it was really very scary when I couldn't hear the beep sound signalling the door's been opened. I had to rely on my sight.

The doc explained that my ear drum is inflamed. Possibly from the result of the high fever but no fever today at 36.8 Celcius. When the drum is inflamed, it gets thick and so noise doesnt bounce off making everything sound so muffled. Hell Yeah! And then because its thick and rigid, it is not able to bend from a sudden change of air pressure - that's the lift explained.

So I was prescribed anti-inflammation meds which is exactly the same for the throat. And also something to clear the blockage which is also applicable for nose.

I feel very conscious that I might be talking too loud because I can't hear myself talking!

Advanced Bday Present!

When I got home yesterday, I was surprised to see a package on my table.

Postage costed $3.74!

It seems to say the sender is Nurul Hidayah, one of the 11 Best Friends. Huh? What could she have sent me? Yah I remember her asking for my postal address just a day after we met up. But I totally didn't expect a PACKAGE!

"It's just a box" the envelop says.

And this is what the card says. AMEEENNN

hehehe my bday isn't until end of the year! Almost 2 months away.

And tadaaaaaaaaaaa

OH MY GOD! It's a COACH wristlet! COACH!

I don't know how to tell you how ELATED i felt when I see this. I was jumping and screaming (luckily I was alone at home for a short while). It's just been a longgggggggggggggggg time since i've received a present, and an expensive one at that. I mean Birthdays are over-rated nowadays for us "adults".

PLUS it came at a right time too when my current Cat wristlet-cum-purse from PetShop ($25 - almost 2 yrs of age) is already dirty and old. But on second thought, if I use this bag everyday, I'm afraid it might get dirty too. So how?
I can't express my thanks enough to Hid. For her to think of me, that's the most precious part. Thank god for friends.

Tears

It was the first time in my motherhood career that I actually cried.

I was nearly midnight when I finally crashed on a Saturday night. Tufeil slept at 9.30pm. The whole night he has been thrashing around the bed, restless. So I had to pacify him every hour or so. I was prolly in deep sleep at 12.30am or so when he woke up again and i roughly rebuffed him but my handphone had to beep at that time and i checked the sms. Tufeil saw the light and started asking for it. At this point, I was SO FREAKING FED UP I just threw my phone on my table.

It made Tufeil VERY UPSET and he started WAILING and SCREAMING for that miserable handphone! I decided to be firm. I mean what the hell! Want to watch a video in the middle of sleep??? Tried to nurse him but HE cried "TAK NAK Daaaaaa" many2 times.

And then he let himself down from the bed and went to the door screaming, "NAK KUAR NAK KUAR NAK KUARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" I totally had to shut myself off. Pretend I couldn't hear anything. He was really crying very very hard like I'm torturing him or something.

A thought occurred that maybe he's not comfortable in our room, so i read the proper doa's but we was still screaming. Then I had an inkling, "What if he has an infant instinct that something is wrong outside and I should go and look? Or he's asking for us to get out to save us?"

Nahhh. I brushed those thoughts away and insisted that I shouldn't give in! I read somewhere that spoiling your child is about giving in to ridiculous demands at the COST of others and this is surely ridiculous and at the cost of losing precious sleep time!

I tried to reason with him that nobody's outside and that everybody's gone to bed. He didnt take in any of it.

He was still pleading to me at the side of the bed while i lied down when he started hiccuping (?) / tersedu2. I couldn't stop my own tears from coming down. I'm soooo sorry my darling that I made you cry so hard. But I'm sooo knackered - although i know its my own fault for turning in so late - and I'm only trying to instill some kind of values in this incident?

So i tried to hold him. But he refused me! He was sitting on my tummy (me lying down) when he really hit me in the face hard. I was stunned and it seemed it stunned him to silence too. We were both quiet for a minute before I started nursing him and he was more than happy to.

I didn't cry about the sting of the slap. He's known to do that. But i started crying harder when i reflected on how selfish I was that I could lose my patience like that and made him cry like that. He's just a baby. He was probably uncomfortable coming down from a slight fever the day before and still having runny nose. I cried for the lack of parenting knowledge I have to make him a good person. I cried for the family situation we are in.

Mostly, I cried because I think it's due.

Mambo GIAmbo Night

Fri 15th Oct 2010,

For those who had been following my tweets, this blog will answer a few questions as to what was really going on.

I took part in a singing competition organised by the acronym mentioned in the subject industry-wide. I did a duet with my new colleague covering Way Back Into Love, by Hugh Grant and Haley Bennett from the movie Music & Lyrics.

When I was there for the rehearsal with 19 other contestants, I finally realised that my chance to get to the final round for Top 6 positions is very slim as they were all very very good! We defly won't get high points for presentation. So I resigned to just having fun and at least not embarrass myself with a nervous voice.

And surprisingly, I was very calm on stage. I think it's a result of two things: 1. rehearsal ON the stage would pre-ampt you of how it's gonna feel like 2. Endless prayer (the Rabbish rahli...) I know i know it's nonsensical that I should pray to do well in something sinful. That's right. If my parents know about this, well they'll prolly kill me. Sorry I can't help it, I love singing so much.

My video

I was the 17th contestant to present and they followed my partner's surname. If it had been mine, we would hafta sing first, EYEWWW!!

Apparently, we were not good enough to get to the Top 6. I would've loved to show them what we could do with Killing Me Softly With His Song by Roberta Flack. But I also wonder how would I fare if I was alone.

This is my other colleague, Red's performance, singing You're Still You from Josh Groban

From the two practices we had together, I already told him that he'd defly make it to Top 6. and he did!! Was so proud of him. However, he only managed to get 6th Place with One In a Million You by Larry Graham for the Final Round. I think he could have done better if he had sung Mem'ry, instead. Oh well... the other contenders WERE very good and deserving. They really rocked the audience lor... dance moves, great song choices (upbeat kind) and costumes etc.

I'll miss this, i guess. But I should repent now. God forgive me.

My First Office Party

Yesterday, I went to my first office party that's not organised by us.

I wanted to feel... honoured that my mgr was gracious enough to invite me along... but honestly, it was kinda dull. I mean, I don't know anybody really! Because I'm still very very green in the claims picture.

The food looks great but i don't eat most of them probably not being halal and all. It was lunch time and they were serving Breadstick size sandwiches with eggs or tuna or chicken and some French pastries. Roving around were waiters bearing a tray of oysters, salmon, prawn & orange, watermelon with dash of spices/sauce. The presentation was allll very elegent I must say.

The best part of that day, other than being able to get off work is getting to see other people's office! And this one's got a superb view of the river/port! Very clean colours and very open concept. I shaped desks as oppose to my L shaped one.

For the first few minutes, we were talking to my colleague's ex colleague and the host introduced themselves to us. It was interesting to listen but awkward to stand there trying to be invisible.

When our mgr drifted away, me and J decided to explore the office. That's when J decided to talk to two back-end ladies there and talked in their language for the next 90minutes or so. I listened trying to catch a word or two but after awhile, it got very tiring. Thank god I had a few calls (miracle!) to entertain me for a bit.

But don't get me wrong, do invite me again to these functions, please. hahahahha

The Pump Has Retired

The pump that had served me for 18months has gone to retirement. It was quite accidental that day was.

I returned a bit late from lunch that fateful Tuesday 28th September 2010. So I thought, "Ok I can pump later at 3 or 4pm." But work caught up to me and I was engrossed doing something until I totally forgot about it.

The next day, I was busy too at work and afterwards I went out with my colleagues. It was close to 10pm when Tufeil finally drank from me. And I didn't feel anything with regards to soreness or what.

Even before these two days, I had been tweeting my thoughts, "Why the hell am i still pumping at work when Tufeil absolutely refuses to drink expressed Breastmilk?" Back then, I didn't wanna stop still cause I was afraid I might feel lost at work without anything "extra" to do. In honesty, it was a 20min reprieve from work.

But after those 2 days of lapses, I felt lazier and lazier and never touched my pump since! But I left the equipment here in the office. Just in case.

You know how I feel about it now? Liberated. I feel FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. hahaha

I had been planning to go to the gym during lunch time. But now the previous gym-going boss has left the company, I'm not sure what's the view of this new guy. PLUS, its gonna cost me $90 per month, so I'm still stalling.

But the next thing to look forward to is to totally wean him from Breastmilk so I can start taking slimming pills or whatever ya know.

By the way, I saw Desperate Hosuewives Season 2 Epi 15 or so a few nights ago and there was this lady who was BFing her 5 year old and claimed that she could still eat a lot of donuts and maintain a slim figure because of it. Well i say BS! It didn't work for me after 12 months! The moment Tufeil turned 1 year old, I started to steadily gain more and more weight till now I feel like a balloon. I feel worse when I look at pictures of my slim self from a year ago. T_T

2nd Online Shopping

I have a project in mind: transferring ALL my pictures from Year 2006 till present (worth over 5GBs) from my work pc to my home pc.

I don't own an external hard disk nor any thumbdrive bigger than 1GB. It took me so long to go and buy it that I decided to do it the convenient way - Buy ONLINE!

Went to GMarket and scoured for the cheapest 4GB one at $21. and 3 days later, it arrived! WOW.

Dubious looking package made of an A4 paper. Not even a proper envelope?

Yellowed bubble wrap

Tadaaaa my handbag thumbdrive.
Paired next to a highlighter for size comparison.

I choose this design especially for the attached cap.
But I still maintain that I don't like shopping online, esp for clothes.
