Some time ago i advertised on my blog about selling my Nintendo DS lite away.
That was like 3 months ago.
I was ready to sell it at $300 with all the accessories included. I've had two offers. One was asking for $200 and i tot it was too low, so i passed. AFter a long time, another interested party contacted me but she didnt follow up.
Then earlier this week, another person offered at $220. And i tot, "Hey i should better sell it before the price gets any lower or a new model comes up and DS lite will take a back seat." I told her that i need somebody to fix the er... software first and would update her by friday.
But seems like she cldnt wait to get her hands on that unit. So she said, "How about you just sell it to me before the setting up at $180. Bcos this is another brand, it might not work. And if it doesnt, then i hafta get the other one." Well... at that point in time, i really couldn't be bothered anymore. I just wanted to wash my hands off this thing.
I did tell her i'd need $190 if she's asking me to come down to her place. She agreed. But at the last minute, she said that she could only meet me halfway at Bukit Gombak. AND THEN... to add a lil more drama... I couldn't find the most important accessory. The Charger! Sheesh. My room is a mess, i really dont wanna make it messier in trying to find it. Or perhaps, it might be in the office, God KNows.
So i told her that either i give her a further $10 off or she can wait till i check in the office or something, or i can go to Causeway point and get a new one before i go meet her. At first she said she'll wait and i will just post it to her.
Met her at the train. She was outside of the ticket gate and we are on the paying side of the gate. and we did our business transaction. LOL. She gave me $180. I tot meeting her up halfway would get that extra $10 but ok whatever.
Then she texted me later than night to say that she can't wait till i mail her the charger, so told me to transfer $10 back to her so she could buy a new one. WHich now i found out cost $28.
I recouped the amount i paid to get the actual unit. But i didnt get anything back for the accessories i bought that costed close to $200. But still... better than nothing right? Rather than the DS gathering dust in my closet?
All in all i'm satisfied i've sold it away.
Nintendo DS Lite SOLD
May Day May Day! Scrabulous is Closed!
I repeated Scrabulous is Closed! May Day May Day!
Scrabulous has been disabled for US and Canadian users since end of July thereabout but we in Singapore were still able to access it. That is until last Fri 22nd Aug.
MY RATINGS!!! My leading games all gone to waste!! When i logged in Facebook, seems soo... quiet and empty... i stayed less than 1min. No reason to linger around there no more.
When i tried to google what happened to Scrabulous... i saw the headline that they made a come back as WordScraper now. While the settings, out look all remained the same, the game is now more of Literati than Scrabble with the 3W and 3L at diff places. Worse is nobody seems to be playing cos i hosted and tried to join open tables, all returned ZILCH.
There's also Scrabble for Worldwide other than US and Canada. Unfortunately i dont have the latest Flash Player or something that i couldn't load the bugger. My Sis is saying its super nice and making me all jlos.
Oh well... the current game im hooked with is Sudoku. My 2nd sis reignited my interest in Sudoku when i showed her how to play Puzzle Level 5. Now i'm printing off Evil Puzzles on websudoku.com to exercise my brain.
So... BRB. hehe
Realarcade Acted on My Feedbacks!!
The Most Boring Day Is not So Boring After All
2/2/08
its a Sat but we stayed home almost all day. bcos there wasnt any water.
aunty nargis came to visit along w her children jawwad, wahhab n hifza.
And later mami nargis, kiran n all also came to visit. it was so crowded i nearly wanted to cry! my private space has been violated. perhaps its cos the house is not really finished yet so tt the guests hafta hang out in our room where the heater is. But then again...even at other houses we hung out in THEIR bedrooms. i so totally dont get it. Isn't bedroom supposed to be like your sanctuary where u get to rest after a hard day's work or play and where u have all the space and privacy to get ready in the morning? But I understand and appreciate that they came to see how im doing. I suppose I just wish i know what they were talking about and also i can actually TALK with them.
But my irritated mood was also the result of feeling helpless and trapped from NO WATER to shower with and with NO real explaination WHY such a thing can happen. Khyyam only managed to say, "Bcos its from the govt." Humph... 2 days later i finally got the answer. and you gotta stay tuned for that! hehe
Oh yes i missed writing about the night before. Ehtesham came with his CPU and wireless phone for the internet!!! He also showed us lots of old videos. So i finally got to see Z when he was younger. So funny there was a clip during Salman's bday where he danced like chicken lah... like girl lah..
But i hafta tell you that i SUPER HATE those mujra dances/dancers. Like what is the purpose of those girl dancing in the front of the audience? For the guys to gawk at them? Oh please! No thank you. In the video Ehtesham played, there were 2 of them, and they cant even dance in sync... no form of choreography at all! null! zilch! Ergh! Is this Pakistan? Im really confused sometimes... are they a very good muslim country or a rebellious one?
Anyways, The internet was working and can play our newly bought DVDs... Yay!! i cldnt wait to blog and email my friends. But by the time they all went home, which is slightly after midnight i think, we were tired already and immediately hit the sack.
Back to that Sat. This is our bfast. Double roti, omelette and SHAMI KEBAB from Aunty Nargis. OMG!! Shami Kebab straight away got to No 1 in my list of Fav Pakistani Food. it's something like Malay's begedil, but this one's made of dhal (yellow beans) and chicken all boiled and mashed then fried covered w egg.
Then without showering we went to the wedding next door. The house has a very spacious compound. The house can hold more bedrooms if not for the compound. Why? Why they design their house in such a way that everybody hafta cramp to sleep in one room? Can somebody explain to me?
We were led to a small living room then into the bedroom where we ate naan n chix korma ON THE BED! really! ON the bed!! And in the dark too but that's because there was a loadshedding. No surprise there.
Salman went back to the house to get mineral water for me. You know, he's really an attentive one. He notices the things that i need when Z is totally blur and ignorant about them. Well.. they are small small things like passing and pouring the water or tissue or telling Z to cover my hand from the cold or even when my shawl slipped and my hands were tucked inside i cldnt adjust it myself. Although he's younger than me by 2 years, i felt like i acquired two older brothers just like i've always wanted but was impossible before. I just wanna say i truly appreciate them.
Thats the bride and the other girl is another neighbour named Hira
i also noticed that ALL their brides always seem SAD on their wedding day! Well i suppose mostly is bcos its an arranged marriage. But Z also told me something like bcos they're leaving their mother's house.
Next Stop: Cloth material shopping at the outlet in Main Bazaar. Ammi said i looked like a salesperson. z can see my taste of material already. normally not prints cos their flowers r too ethnic or oldish.
The place looks very much like the old Geylang, only instead of uneven cement floor, it was uneven sand natural floor. It wasn't a place to take pictures either for fear of being "bumped" and you'll notice ur hp's gone!
Once again, i wasn't in the mood for touristy shopping. My objective that day was to get the materials and be done with it. I dont know why but i feel very tired most of the time. Must be the endless pills i hafta down 3 times a day. Ergh
It was prolly 8pm when we came home after yet another of those daily visits to the clinic to change the dressing. But tonight is a bit different. Tonight some of the stitches are dry enough to remove. I had been looking forward to remove the stitches as i see that to mean nearer to the time when the bandage can be removed also and i will be free to dress as i like (i can't wear my normal tudung/scarf yet)
I remember pple saying something like they can feel the thread being taken out but that it didnt hurt. Most unfortunately, my first one HURTS LIKE HELL! It hurts so much i cried! i cried! and i cried! I didnt care there were other patients outside it hurts OK! I was beginning to think that the healing process is much more painful than the actual accident!
Doc: *quite sarcastic tone* Why are you crying? Its not painful, is it?
Me: Why would i cry if its Not painful??
Doc: You're still here aren't you? still alive?
Me: *in my heart* how would i be able to answer you just now if i weren't still alive?!
Quite confusingly, the next two didnt hurt at all.
Doc: What? no crying?
Me: *silent* = angry
Come to think of it, the first one was located some more my thumb where i was feeling numb. Prolly that's the sensitive/troubled area? I kept asking the doctor why are my fingers swollen and he kept saying, "Swollen? where'? there's no swelling." Like HELL there wasn't. My new found uncles could also see they are swollen and you, the supposedly qualified doctor, who alternate career in the past was a PILOT, couldn't see its swollen? How can that be? The only consolation i get from seeing this doctor is that he speaks good english and that with every move when he treated me he said Bismillah.
We reached prolly 8pm? If you think my day was over, you have truly mistaken. We started to quickly pack a few of our clothes cause we're going to Aunty Farzana's house at Old Lahore and it's like 1hr away!
Salman got his boss to drive 4 of us (Rizwan was still at work) and Aunty Nargis & her 3 children in his van. I'm ashamed to say i rested for the first half of the journey. The painful ordeal earlier left me quite tired and i thought that it was dark anyway and with the fog outside and no specs, i cldnt see much of the scenery.
But i felt much better after waking up and could appreciate the Bharti Gate when we passed through it. i wish i was on the bike though so i could see more openly. We were on some lane but there was something blocking the road so Z said ok we'll stop here. We got down and walked 100m then zigzagged through a narrow alley until suddenly.....
it was raining rose petals!!! They were serenading me from first and second floor. How sweet sweet sweet of them! I was brought inside and presented with a...
on the left is Aunty Nargis. Right Aunty Farzana. The small face in background is Qandil
bouquet of flowers!! I dont normally appreciate flowers but i was truly warmed by their gesture and effort in going all out to welcome me! I feel...... LOVED :D it was 11pm
We were first served with dinner of chappati, kheema and meatballs as well as chicken biryani. I was soo stuffed! But that's not all!
Next is Gajrela, a dessert made of carrot. Hmmm i suppose it was ok... but i can only take a small morsel at a time cos its super sweet. Lucky that i like carrots usually but it feels weird tt it can become a source of dessert. But it was sooo soft u wont remember there's carrot inside! More like flour.
They were waiting for tea. Not being a fan of milk tea, i decided to join the girls. Hifza was playing "anak banak" with Qandil and Fiza (Aunty Farzana's 2nd and 3rd daughters). My own two palms were spread on top and below my right and left partners' palms. then my right palm clap my left partner's right palm and she will clap her partner's palm while chanting the play song. Then they count 1, 2,3 - 20. At the 20th count, whoever's turn to clap is supposed to slap the next person's palm. If hit, the partner is out. if missed then the slapper's out. It's fun really and for my sake they counted in English. And amazingly, i won in my first round!! Haha
After that, We played "Yasu Panju". First, we assigned ourselves names. then made a show of any number of fingers then we started counting with our names. If it ends with our name then we're out. If it ends with out name again, we'll be tickled until we say sorry sorry. When down to the last two members, one hafta hit the last person's closed hands until he missed and this goes on for one round with the rest of us.
Then, i showed them how to play Chop chilli Chop. and they all laughed and laughed and laughed. Just take a look at this video!
Only Wahhab the younger boy in front of me caught the gameplay. That is to follow my action AFTER i finished mine. The rest were mimicking me while im doing it. its ok.. Most importantly we really had fun and bonded nicely :D
Next, we were treated with Mamoo Akmal aka Mamoo Gungga's magic tricks. This video below is my fav trick cos he did it on me also and i really didnt feel how the other ball got INTO my hand!
But you hafta be patient till u get to the last part of the video. Mamoo was trying to do his act but Haseeb, Aunty Farzana's youngest son, the naughtiest one kept interrupting him.
We were then shown to our room on the 4th floor.. but they seem to think its 6th floor i dont know why. Remember that i went here without having showered first? We were supposed to shower here and then i found out that even though they have 1 toilet on every floor, they have only 1 shower and its on the 1st floor! My cranky mood kicked in and i slept at 2am with my back facing Z.
To be continued......
Scrabulousing
I've been sleeping late like 1am for a few nights in a row.
But hey.. my 2 weeks holiday's coming. I can sleep the whole 12hours of my transit and 10hrs of my flight!
What irritated me is why i stayed up late. Playing scrabulous!! Ok that game is great, and get your brain to exercise... but why should i be losing sleep and rest and get all sleepy the next day just because of it?
Somebody help me!
Believe it or not, i'm so addicted i actually have 20 active sessions!! At first, i felt quite distressed that only a handful of my contacts play them. Even then, not often and our online time dont coincide.
That is until i actually tried to host a table and then the heat kicked in! I saw the option already when i started scrabulousing but i tot that there wouldn't be a lot of pple in there waiting to play or whatever. but the reverse is so true!
But all these international players are so much more skillful than me. Im losing like 80% of them! LOL. When i was winning 80% playing with my contacts (you know who you are hehe :D).
I've picked up a lot of tactics to score more points. Long word doesnt necessarily equate to big points.
My mega word is JUMPILY for 108. My current rating is 1164.
FREE FULL Versions of Games for keeps. NO time limit!

Pros: get to keep the games forever. can redownload at any other computer. 30 days trial.
Cons: Need to install software
The only catch is you would need to use your credit / debit card to secure your trial membership. and that you hafta remember to cancel it!!
Now, i hafta tell you that i own a grand total of 32 full version games that i have acquired over the past 2 years. This is only on RealArcade and not even including scores of other games i've played on Shockwave.
There are several types of games that i like to play:
1. Search and find. Eg: The Scruffs

List of items you need to find are on the right. Click on the dog's bone to get a hint of where the item is if you're stuck. As for me, if i dont know the meaning of certain words or can't picture what they look like, i just search for their images at Google!
These type of games have further variations like:
a) Various Short games after you completed a round including jigsaw puzzles, spot the difference, unscramble words etc
b) Instead of words, they give you shadows of the items u need to find
c) Hints are awarded in diff manner. Eg: find the bone or click once n u hafta wait for the bar to fill up again before u can click on it again.
And they will always include a very nice story line. The Scruffs story started after the father lost his job and need to sell the house to get by. Turned out the grandfather has some treasure hidden away under double triple clues that they hafta solve....
2. Fast finger wins!
You hafta react to customer's orders quickly to fill them, get the money and achieve your sales goal.

The Apprentice Los Angeles
Cake Mania 2
The Apprentice Los Angeles came to a close 2nd behind my all time favourite Cake Mania 2. Actually maybe they are a tie lah. Both are number 1s in my book of games!
The thing i like about Apprentice is they have 3 or 4 different scenarios / shops and while its not exactly easy, its manageable. But stages towards the end of Cake Mania is very unnerving and intense! But I like Cake Mania for their colourful animations, their delicious looking cakes with different icing and toppings and for the machine UPGRADES! It's like working hard to buy your car or house, only instead of car or house, they let u upgrade for faster ovens and icing machines, faster shoes! Faster muffin oven to soothe the impatient customers, upgrade for more and diff toppings as well as faster ones.
I have to say though that i DONT LIKE! I repeat i dont LIKE Diner Dash. It's so mundane ok. seat ur customers, preferably according to their colours, serve them menu, collect their order, send their order, give and collect the check, clean the table. As another bonus, u get more points for chaining (doing one action eg serving menus to multiply customers in a row).
3. Strategy
Build-A-Lot
Build a town and achieve the mayor's specified goal before the deadline. You will start off with, let's say, $10,000 and 3 workers. Firstly, you hafta buy the blueprint on how to build, for eg, a Manor, an Estate etc. If you build a construction office, your employee will be more efficient and you can employ new workers at cheaper rate. Then if you build a bank, you can earn money. But if you donate the profit to charity, then you will get tax exemptions etc. So you need to strategise, really!
Just like Holiday Island, remember Ayah?
Fairy GodMother Tycoon
Fairy GodMother is another strategy game. But the difference is there's competition and you hafta kick them out of business! The storyline for this one is also cute. and before the start of a new business day, you hafta buy supplies, set your advertisement budget and method, read the weather forecast. In the forecast, they will say how many % of pple will get a certain sickness the next day, so ur supplies to make curing potions, shld be able to accomodate the Ill.
At first, only Kak Lily joins in the fun and joy of these games. She even subscribes to Big Fish Games which she pays monthly!! After a year or so, then Kak Long started to get hooked mostly on Search & find games only. But she prefers chatting to playing these games lah.
And now, i've got Mummy addicted to it too! I dont know to feel happy or guilty! Happy that someone shares my interest. Guilty that im responsible for her time away from her other responsibilities. hehe I've only introduced her to the Search & Find... Over the past week or 2, she's already finished 5 or 6 games twice each!
Anybody interested yet?
16th Dec Family Day
It's a Sunday and I'm free all day.
I dont know why my eyes automatically opened at 9am, despite being a weekend when i usually sleep till late. Then i tot i'd better play game at the computer now before everybody else wakes up and i did for a full 2.5hr! Astaghfirullah! hehe... It's called Little Shop - Big City. a search n find game with a zesty twist!
Mummy's saying they are going out to Labrador Park. At first, i felt a bit lazy to go out... then i found out Kak Long is also going out which means that if i didnt follow Mummy n the rest, i'd be home alone and i certainly DONT WANT that!! Suddenly i perked up with the thought that i could wear the new sunday dress i just bought n i can wear make up the whole day today!
Syifaa' is driving Aunty Siti to work
The pink and Blue collection.
Haha What's wrong with my eyes?
Mummy multi-tasking weaving the ketupat in the car.
- Pram/stroller AT LEAST $200 for a good one
- Cots Frame are mostly wood kind (i dont like cos will make room look small) and are at least $200 too. That's not inclusive of the bedsheet, pillow etc at $100 per set
- Baby Walker $70
- Bottle Steriliser $100+ Brand: AVENT. a cheap one goes at $40 but Kak Ly said she doesnt use it cos it fits 2 bottles only.
- A 2-in-1 Swing bed and a baby chair was tagged at average of $350!!!!!!!!!
It was so demoralising that i didnt even bother to see how much are the baby car seats. I hope i can get ALL Hand-me-downs.
Our tummies were making orchestra sounds (keronchong hehe)... but didnt know where to go. We felt like eating thai noodles... Kak Ly didn't wanna go Simpang Bedok cos hot she said. Dont wanna go Haan River at East Point cos we'd be TOO STUFFED then at a buffet... Then we remembered that Mummy said the cafeteria at Airport Terminal 1 has been renovated and more muslim stalls have opened.
So we headed to the airport despite the fact that my parents had just came back that morning at 6am after virtually overnighting there sending pple to Hajj. But Suddenly i got a bit scared at the prospect of looking at the airport yet again. My heart is just mending from a serious heartbreak 7 days ago and i would be subjected to the raw pain again... Ohh Lord.. But i took comfort that i am with my family this time around.
Flowery me behind the Flowers at Terminal 2 Sky Train
We were actually kinda disappointed by the cafeteria. Bcos in actual fact, it hasnt changed that much. Our expectations were brutally crushed! Heh... We imagined that there were so many stalls that we cldnt even decide what to eat... but there were only 2 additional stalls both selling RICE (!!!) + the usual Thai, Western and Indian Halal stalls...
At least Kak Lily got a Thai Beef noodle. Even then she said most of it were FATs (ie not the meat)! and i settled with a safe Chicken Cutlet. But we were somewhat consoled by the heavenly shaved ice + lychee dessert.
We wanted to go to Ikea but we reviewed our Boot space condition and decided against it. Its filled to the brim w the car seat, stroller, several shopping bags and the bulky safety baby gate (whatever u call it).
At home, it was SUPER DULL!!
- Mummy n ayah went straight to bed.
- Long is still not home.
- Kak Ly was busy attending to Syifaa'.
- TV is a firework! Mummy already bought a new one (after 13-15yrs) yesterday but it will only arrive on WED!!
- My PC is throwing a tantrum hanging just after 30min when i DID manage to turn it out. At other times, it will just freeze at the Windows XP window, deemly lit.
Kak Ly and i tried to play Mystery Case Files - Madame Fate together, but Syifaa' was restless and sleepy that we could hardly concentrate. Then i was left to play on my own and got bored.
I gave up and went to bed reading instead. Then bored again, and looked at pictures on my hp and suddenly i cldn't take it anymore. I cried. I was so missing him. I told him last night that i won't call him (like the previous night too) until HE calls me becos he's promised me for over a week that he would buy that new calling card that's super cheap to call Spore but still havent!!
It was 10.45pm and i cldn't take it any longer. So i called Zubair. Turned out he was just walking to the shop to buy the card! And at last, half an hour later we got to talk for more than 30min. :D Weee...
Road Games: Which Lane's Faster?
I realised that lately I've been playing this game in my mind.
Do you notice how the extreme right lane in the expressway, which is supposed to be the fast &/or overtaking lane, is always the one that's lagging behind or having a long queue ending up being the slow one??
It always seemed that whenever i finally got into the fast lane, the traffic on that lane will stop while the immediate left will flow.. Is it because too many cars trying to get into the fast lane that its clogging the traffic?
One day, i noticed that a car i overtook a few min ago is now ahead of me on the 3rd lane. From then on, whenever i overtake, i will pick one unique car/vehicle to be my mark. I will use him to see whether my decision to go to the extreme right lane is a good choice or a bad one. ie if i dont see it again (he didnt overtake me) means i've made a good choice.
Because you see.. sometimes its worth it to stay in queue even though its a long one... bcos it will clear up a few km ahead. It's much better than changing to 3rd lane and then when it matters the most, when the fast lane's going fast, and u can't get join that lane promptly enough and you notice that you've been set back even further.. THEN you'll feel the pinch!
Hmm do i make sense?
If i tell this to Ayah, he would probably say, "It's ok we're not in a hurry. It doesnt matter. We shld remain calm and be patient"
Saturday...
I was feeling very lousy being the after effect of all the medicines i downed the night before to get rid of my flu/pleghm bla bla bla...
Cancelled my two classes at 8:45 and promptly went back to sleep only to wake up at 2pm. Blissful weekend.
It was planned that this Saturday, Zubair has to do his homework in the day then we wld go to Night Safari at night.
He did do his homework and by the time he declared, "That's it for the day" he only has 2 pages left to finish and was itching to go out.
Me, i got hooked on Malcom in The Middle season 1 on www.veoh.com while munching and finishing -unconsciously- the whole bag of Twisties! Gosh! i feelt heartache that the Charmed one has too many missing episodes, i gave up and started another series.
I was still not feeling so good i told Zubair to go out by himself which he agreed gladly. He went to Little India and indulged in his Paan yet again.
Anyways... in the middle of the night, i woke up at 2:30am feeling about to vomit. but nothing came out. my tummy felt uneasy. i think its either the whole bag of twisties turning inside me or the Dunkin Donut bcos Zubair thought it was too filling also.
After sitting up on the floor... rubbing Tiger Balm on my tummy... i still feel uneasy... I told to Zubair, "Let's take a walk" He obliged willingly. HE is such a night owl!
At the door, i had this warm fuzzy feeling. It feels so good to be married and be able to do almost anything guiltless. Like before, going out at 3am is a NO NO and you'd hafta SNEAK out and feel guilty with high adrenaline afraid of getting caught. But its not problem with your hubby around :D
We walked towards Marsiling.. it was so quite and peaceful, the air cool with dew and foggy that i felt better just after 3min! We sat down at some bench talking and me lying on his thigh looking up the sky. BLISS.
I wonder where from all the intermitten vehicles passing us were from, or where were they going. Maybe they just came back from work, partying, meeting girlfriend... haha Then what are the pple in the few brightly-lit rooms are doing... watching TV.. Studying?? or cldnt sleep with lights off as i used to be..
haha i like to play this kinda game... Trying to guess what other pple are doing. Like when in the MRT on a weekday afternoon, I'd ask myself, "Where are these pple from? Aren't they working?" and i wld come up with answers like.. "Maybe they're housewifes, students, sales person on the job, etc"
Well in conclusion, I'd like to say... I love you, Xubi. I love that you're always there for me. I love that you love me. I love when we make up after an argument and the love just get stronger.
ok this is getting too mushy. Adios pple! Enjoy your Sunday!

Road Games...
Arghhhh
What's wrong with blogger today? I cant see the toolbar to insert photo or change font or whatever!! I wanted to write where we went yesterday but bcos of this mysterious disappearance of the toolbar, hafta write about something else...
Road Games...
Before that, this morning we spent 1hr 15min on the road to get to Tanjong Pagar from Woodlands! What causes traffic jam when it rains, i wonder? there wasnt any accident that i know of... Or was there? One reason could be pple are driving slowly... but still! cannot be so slow that a journey that normally take 25min stretched to 1hr 15min right?? What's your idea?
So.. while stuck in traffic jam... or whenever im bored travelling in a car, i have this mental road game. i add the numbers on the plate numbers. for example: SGE5287E
5+2+8+7 = 22! I'd be happy if the results are multiples of 5 bcos that's how u score in dominoes and would think the driver is extremely lucky is the numbers add up to 21, black jack? The thrill of it is, u hafta add up quickly before the vehicle passes u by! i wonder if im the only one who plays this game?
Now.. my parents have a diff game of their own... They look at the models of Toyota cars. Anywhere and everywhere that they can see TOYOTA cars they will comment something like:
1. Hey this is a new colour
2. this VIOS is a bit different
3. Is this a new Toyota model?
I dont understand their obsession for Toyota sedan cars. We've had 2 Toyotas and current is a VIOS.
I also remember when i was in primary school and took the school bus home with the rest of my friends in the same neighbourhood.. we had a game of spotting a Mercedez. Who shouts the colour of the mercedez first gets 1 point. Also, Fit and I who always sat together liked to wave at other drivers and passengers. I remember vividly, there was this one malay family who waved back enthusiastically... they prolly thought, "What cute girls!" hahahahah
What do YOU play while on the road?
Text Twist Tips
Do you like to play Text Twist but often get stuck bcos they come up with strange 6 or 7 letter words?! Here's some tips if you havent known this already.
The final word is Tacked. Notice that the first letters from the 4-letter category are T, A, C and D reading upwards. Notice that the 3-letter category goes T,A,C,E. the remaining letter not in 3 or 4-letter category is K. so u place K accordingly with to match the sequence T,A,C,D and T,A,C,E. Meaning the letter E is somewhere after C but can either be before or after D.
Now give this one a shot.
You've got C,H,R,L and S. just insert U appropriately!
In the case of 2 6-letter word answers, it will follow the first word or the last word, depending whether you are playing the online version or the downloaded version. In this case below, it follows dieter.
In the case of 2 of the same letters in the puzzle, it will be placed on the first position in the final answer.
You have D,R,Y,A, and S. the D doesnt repeat again. so u can say the missing letter to be placed is the 2nd D. and so it becomes Dryads.
Well.. Good luck! and i dare anybody who can beat mine and my mother's score from joint effort of 3mil. :P
Weekend Alone. Great or Disastrous?
Or great Disaster?
The whole family went to Malacca over the weekend leaving me and Zubair home alone.
DAY ONE
On Saturday, there was still left over Asam Pedas (Malay dish) from yesterday and we ate that for lunch... Breakfast was done in sleep haha..
Then for dinner, we wanted to eat Tom Yam. Ever since the Sakura last thurs which Hid treated us there for dinner, Zubair has fallen in LOVE with Tom Yam! and wanted to try again. We were sooo excited to eat Tom Yam that i cldnt take my afternoon nap. By 5pm, we decided to get ready.
Headed to Bukit Panjang Mall via Mrt, LRT wanting to show him the LRT only to find out he has already taken the LRT when he visited his friend in Sengkang. Bluek. On the way, i remembered i still have $20 voucher useable at Bukit Panjang Mall. We can use it to play bowling!! yayyy!!
Reached there. Went up to 3rd floor. Looked at the directory, Sakura's stated there... but WHERE IS IT???? Is it the one covered with cardboards??? yes it is!! how come its closed?? is it closed for renovation or forever? can't be no Bukit Panjang pple eat Sakura that they went bust... Our hopes crushed man just like that...
Ok let's go bowling... eh... where's the bowling alley?? it's supposed to be at 4th floor. I've ever been there with my ex colleague... oh noooooooooo! It's been so long since i last stepped in here that there's been so many changes. Two things we were looking forward to.. both hopes were crushed! What are the odds man...
In the end, we ate KFC for dinner. At least, we had a fruitful visit at the library. There were so many books i wanted to borrow and they're all available there. I was disappointed to know that the 8 books promotion is over that i had to discard 4 of Janet Evanovich's books. eh wait a min! i just realised something as i typed this... I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER and can borrow 8 books! OHHHHHHHH *Slap own forehead* Selenger nye Julissa!! takleh angkat!! #$%^$%^$%^#$
I spent the rest of the night reading the 12th book of A Series of Unfortunate Events.
DAY TWO
Next day, i woke up at 9am made a small bfast n continued to finish the 12th book and went back to sleep. only to be woken up by a sheer feeling of hunger at 2pm.
Initially, i wanted to cook Keema for him cos i bought some Chappati flour some time ago... But when i looked in the fridge there's nothing inside... ie no minced meat. and when i searched for the recipe, we dont have most of the spices anyway... and it'd be a hassle as well as a waste to buy them.
There's some left over dish also from my aunty who comes every friday to clean the house. but to eat white rice is boring.. so i decided to make Nasi Goreng (fried rice).
Hmmm for those of you who dont really know me.. i dont really have much experience cooking. i know most theories but rarely put into practice bcos there's always somebody else in charge of the kitchen. Now that im alone i had just the chance!
Now.. Nasi Goreng in my knowledge should fry the blended onion and chilli first... then put rice and stir... But i wanna put Ikan Bilis (Anchovies) quite sure is supposed to come before the rice but not sure whether should i fry separately first.. shld i wash it first, shld i add anything? So i tried calling the first girl of the 11 gang to be married. Alas, she's not in singapore and i hung up as soon as i realised that.
Next on the list is one of the 11 friends who lives in Woodlands. I know she does the cooking at home too. She told me she blends everything onion, garlic, chilli AND anchovies first. and that if i want the rice to be red i should put RED chilli, if i want green, green chilli. but that i should add some green chilli even if i want it red bcos green chilli is to make it sweeter. She told me i can wash the anchovies but dry them first if there's time so that it will be crispy. she actually said that the soft ones remind her of DEAD LIZARD'S BONE!! ok push that thought away... dont puke dont puke... i told myself as i took out the anchovies...
My mother always have a container or blended onion and blended chilli ready in the fridge. I just diced two pieces of garlice and sliced 1 red chilli and 1 green chilli since the rice is only 2 scoops... I fried them all beautifully i thought... But then.. it looked too dry.. i wonder if i can add water and asked so to the hubby.. and he said yeah why not. ok i added...
He looked on as i fry the anchovies and commented that the oil is too little. i looked at him as if he's crazy. "Are you crazy?" i asked "There's too much in there already." Then he went to taste the base... i havent added salt yet cos Fit said it is AFTEr the rice. he insisted i put it first ok lah i put.. Then he commented, "THIS IS RICE?!?!?!?" Ok my rice too lembik (soft). I like them like that... but ok i admit its a weeee bit softer than originally desired. OK i pray that it will become dry when i fry them?
I began to add the rice and stir... then he interfered some more showing the so called "right technique" to stir. GRRRRRRR very angry. i wanted this to be my OWN cooking. i dont like to cook when the other ladies are at home to guide me around the correct way of cooking But now HIM TOO?? ok whatever..
Then he tasted the result.. not salty enough... reminder: this is after the rice is fried already. Then he added the blended union and WATER again!!! and some more salt. i almost shrieked. Isnt the union supposed to be in the beginning?? He said nevermind. ok lah nevermind. Whatever. I left him in the kitchen to go shower.
After solat, i served him and everything.. then he said, "Maybe we should cook the small fish separately." I did what, i told him. "Yeah but dont put in together with the rice." I rolled my eyes and fixed them on the TV. I cleaned my plate.. some parts were actually quite hot and i didnt even add chilli sauce! and bcos we put just 1/3 of the two cups of rice i cooked, the fried rice is VERY Red. Zubair took two pieces of RAW garlic to his rice and then signalled he can't finish it. Im guessing he just took 2 or 3 mouthfuls of rice only cos his plate still FULL. and im VERY VERY VERY SUPER OFFENDED!
i already warned him that however the outcome is he has to say its nice. i didnt talk to him for half a day. i went to watch TV outside then read my book in my sister's room. Then he came to me saying that he didnt finish it not bcos its not nice but bcos he was full already. I just said ok and ignored him bcos he didnt say sorry.
Then he approached me again to say his mum is calling to talk to me. At first i told him to tell her im sleeping but he came back to say Ammi ji really wanted to talk to me and i should show some respect. So i said salam and after the usual exchanges she asked me "Apna kya pakaya hai?" I thought to myself how did she know i cooked today? I just answered her, "Nasi Goreng" Not bothering to translate to English since Zubair will directly translate to Urdu for her. Then she asked what's ur recipe? I felt at a loss not knowing what to say... i just er er er... and hmm hmm in a bratty, im-sulking kinda tone. Then Ammi asked, "Am i angry?" After much hesitation i said no... Then she said something in Urdu very long and high pitched. i dont know what she said but i really cldnt take it anymore i just excused myself and went of sobbing loudly...
An hour after that, he approached me again to say that his mother scolded him for not eating. and said nevermind i will teach her how to cook when she comes to Pakistan. In my heart i smiled broadly. Its great that the mother in law sided me. aloud i said, "Padan muka" (Serve him right!) and told him i cleared away his plate already and in reply he said, "OH No.. now my turn to cry.."
Then he said, ok get ready for maghrib. i guess after that i began to be ok... but not sure how to start talking to him again... solution: Make him his usual tea before he asked me. And then everything was alright again..
Im guessing the impact of the phone call with Ammi ji is very strong that he kept telling me but softly lah not angrily, almost like a child, "Bcos of you.. i got scolded by Ammi ji, you know... She told me i shldn't bla bla bla bla..."
Anyways, I told him I wont ever cook again. BUt of course.. that's a bit of BedeQ and Drama.. when we have our own house of course i'll hafta cook for him for myself also... Im just not ready yet..
Well that's the disastrous part of the weekend. On the overall, the great part was i get to watch TV and play game on the computer outside. Speaking of which, Ly, if you're reading this.. I'm sorry i didnt realise i was playing Turbo PIzza under your name!!! No Wonder i got confused, how come suddenly selling seafood pizza?? and i finished the game already! Sorry!! In my opinion, its too easy anyways... Unlike my beloved Cake Mania.....
