Hmmm... Zubair and i had canvassed the area looking for chappati and/or real Pakistani restaurant. Most are South Indian food.
His fav is Usman Restaurant located just before Desker Road by the main road. But they dont serve chappati. Instead Naan is the official roti of choice priced at $1 if im not wrong.
MY fav is of course KOMALA's. I prefer the fast food version situated by the main road also just after Mustafa centre. But if you want the slow food restaurant is somewhere between Campbell Lane and Dunlop St by the main road.
We've also eaten at the hawker centre at Tekka Market just at the Busstop NO 2 in the map. This is the SUPER CHEAP range. but be prepared for smelly smells and "roasted" smell sticking on your hair and tudung. The good thing about it is that it has a wide range of dishes to choose from so if ur partner doesnt wanna eat too Indianish food, can always order other things.
We've also tried A B Mohamed Restaurant a BIG NO NO! pricey! We ordered Keema with green peas and the latter were as hard as marbles! LOL. The MICRO MINI serving of Keema + 2 pcs of below average size chappati is $5? and juices start from $2! But at least its air-conditioned and you can use NETS. PLUS they have chappati and paper dosai under one roof which is a rare find! They have 2 branches right opp each other along Syed Alwi Road, before Mustafa.
Blue Diamond is another place where i've ever eaten. Its along Buffalo facing the Tekka Market just now. It is alleged as selling the BEST briyani dam. Im not convinced tho. PLUS the place is SUPER crampy! i felt a bit claustrophobic lor... u can say Cheap range also.
oh yes we've also been to this one restaurant just after Lembu Road. Can't remember what's the name but the Naan is TO DIE FOR! That is, if you like the crispy kind! Price is just a bit below mid-range. Air-conditioned But nothing fancy.
Butterflyrubrics, there are a LOT of eating places. Just walk down from Mustafa against the traffic flow along the main road. Some are a bit too tacky. Others are Hindus and the halal status is quite doubtful. Why dont u start with these first? hehe There are more inside the smaller streets, but like you, i havent bothered to explore THAT much yet. But by the looks of it, most of them sell beers ah. and im not very comfortable with that.
And So... this is my review of the eating places I've been to in Little India. Feel free to add YOUR review.. Huda.. i'm sure you know of MORE places. Recommend lah!
2 glasses of Juice:
haha thanks jus!
precisely because there are so many that's why i pening when i go there... dunno which one is good! i used to temp at an arts company on buffalo rd (i think!) and every single day i'd just eat at tekka market cos its just so much easier to get their famous beryani (super long queue always!) or cappati.
but i'm craving for goooood north indian food without going fine dine. i've tried the fish methi u described in your other post in my travel and you are right its divine... so if u know of an affordable place let me know!
hey try to recall the place with the super naan. heh. thanks will definitely try some of those u recommended the next time I go on my mustafa adventure!
Haha.. i see i see... itulah.. Zubair also when i ask where he wants to eat he will always say Usman.. Can we try some place else cos there are so many diff restaurants to try!
Yayy!! At least somebody understands my infatuation towards Fish methi. heheh I hope to taste my MIL's version of it soon!
Wait.. lemme ask my dad what's the name. Cos i dont know when im going there for survey again .. at least not for another 2 months!
